Ciara - "Ecstasy"

Damn nearly every post is dragging her. :rip: You guys really think it's that bad?

Using 3 year old songs & only adding like 3-4 new songs only is an insult.

I'm considering not buying the album even though the cover is fire

  • Video shot and directed by Diane Martell who did Ride, Promise, love sex magic and like a boy! And she said there's a lot of dancing and it's the big sister to ride and promise.

  • I never understood why they went with this cover and never added Go Girl on the album... Because the single artwork was pretty similar, and the song and the video were fire !

Even if it is expensive as an Independant artist to release an album with all new songs - She could AT LEAST have chosen at max 6 songs:

How We Roll

Ecstasy

Better Thangs

Lowkey

BRB

Forever

The above songs would also have a somewhat cohesive sound. Why do we want Winnin, Wassup and Run it up.

That would seem more reasonable but of course her team is dumb af! But honestly it's also her stans. If you by any chance read the conversations taking place with her Twitter stans you'll see how delusional and out of touch they are. They also enable her because they preach everything she does and they also go after you if you disagree or give constructive feedback.

Run it Up is my least favorite Ciara song ever. It pissed me off so much I had to fully unstan and I barely recovered ever since. The fact she's including that song on the album is enough for me not to buy the album. According to some of her twitter stans, it's her "best song in years" :ace:

Ecstasy (while not her best) was such a good palate cleanse. It's like we took one step forward and three steps back with this EP inclusion.

Exactly.

You're so right about the Ciara's prayer thing.

Unfortunately today's artist thrive off a bit of mess. You need a storyline and the Future thing was her story line. The shedding of that relationship and finding new love should have been the concept for the album after the break up. That's all ppl love to talk about with her and she barely touches on it.

it's why much of her music feels so unauthentic

She literally sat her dumb axx on someone else's album, letter them make money off of her situation, outcome and catch phrase. Not one person guided her to make a podcast, YouTube talk show, self love or album with the phrase and concept that's been a topic for nearly a decade

It continues to get even more sad with Ciara and unfortunately she can't take the hint to either get better or move on. Just like on "Jackie", sis is pandering 2-3 year old songs as a labor of love.

Out of curiosity where or what would fans here want to see her career go

I always wanted that comeback moment for her but Ciara self titled was as far as it went back in 2013. After this era is all said and done I would love for her to just stop making music.

I want Goodies and Evolution Ciara back.

I would've said release a fashion line, but she tried and it flopped.

:suburban:

Maybe a kids line and pivot to children's music?

More experimental choices and collabs with different producers and other artist—  doing an album with someone like kaytranada or pharell, maybe a few songs written by Victoria, tinashe, or muni long would be dope. She can go even more obscure with the choices but I just want her to stop trying to make music that sounds line it could be a hit (in 2005) and start trying to craft a new wav. maybe some it's house music, old school Atlanta club music inspired, some Trip hop sounding beats.. idk.. just something fresh.

Hire a better choreographer and make dancing more of a highlight in her career again. I need the choreo to be on 90s Janet.

come up with a new look and theme for the next era. Hire a stylist like Kollin Carter to help curate the look.

hire more young black gays and women for her team! Ciara is so disconnected with her gay fan base and niche things like stan twitter. She's needs some social media managers to help her tap back in with that crowd.

If she doesn't do any of that then I could see her going full force with the footballer wife thing. she seems to be big with the trad wife crowd so she could also do some type of family oriented lifestyle content or tv show like a home make over show or cooking.

Like give us what Fantasy Ride was supposed to be. Some urban Kylie minogue type tea that really taps in with the gays.

The Look:

The sound:

something fun & dancey and/or some light hearted songs with some early 2000s nostalgia, but with a good beat

Wow Blau is amazing giving lead single very experimental for her

Ciara needs to do a 10-album track full of sexy Promise-type songs. She abandoned a sound that no one could do better.

I really wish she would move away from the "soccer mom" or Zumba-style pop music. A lot of it sounds like it's made for kids or teens, even though the majority of her actual fanbase is pushing 30 and up. It's time the music matured with the audience.

I'd love to see her dive into darker, alternative R&B or a more refined electronic/dance sound—something with edge and depth. Collaborating more with Latin and African artists could also bring fresh, exciting energy to her catalog and help her break out of the repetitive formula she's been stuck in.

Let's be real: much of her music over the past decade has felt either inauthentic or just flat-out uninteresting. She desperately needs to branch out and work with new songwriters—especially ones rooted in R&B—not just the usual generic popwriters

Also, it would be refreshing if she dialed back the oversharing in interviews about her personal life and put more focus on the creative process and her music.

As a fan, it's honestly disappointing to see the new album mostly filled with songs from an old EP, with only three new tracks.

We've been waiting for something fresh and exciting, and it just feels like a missed opportunity. Meanwhile other artists are out here dropping full projects with all-new material, evolving their sound and giving fans something to really dive into. It's frustrating because she has so much potential, we just want to see her truly deliver and grow with her music.

This kind of lazy rollout is exactly why her career feels stagnant right now. How are fans supposed to be excited to buy an album we've already heard most of?

Answer this for me, if you take away the music videos, social media dance trends/challenges .....is the music still actually good on its own? Majority of her recent songs dont.

I'm glad I never listened to the EP, it's all new songs for me, but even with that in mind I have zero expectations…

Yesss

i don't mind the idea of Ciara making pop music, the music just needs to come from a mature place. You can do pop music without it being cheesy or generic.

Madonna is a pop artist but her work always feels deep and introspective. however Ciara be recording **** that can go to any girl with minimal vocal talent. Her pop records are always so trash imo which is why I always wanted her to stay urban, but now I realize it's just the type of pop music she does. Like that thinkin bout you song she released a few years ago 🤢🤢what in the Taylor swift?

Yall these ideas have already been broadcasted to her, flipped inside out, upside down. It's HER. She's never going to fill that void that's been missing. Been following her since she got her fried lace front ass on 106 & park to do a debut performance of Goodies and I say this to say I have stuck around for nearly 20 years I have give up on her. It's tiring and it's even more tiring seeing people have hope at this point.

Out of curiosity where or what would fans here want to see her career go

i was told what i "wish" (in my dreams) is not something to "look for" in artist like ciara, but here it goes

1. authentic album (dont care what genre, as long as shes herself)

id love an album that is all songs like i love myself, something real, something authentic, when she sang "i was sitting on the bed in atlanta, georgia, all alone in my emotions, full of fear" made me realize how rarely i get to "hear" ciara as ciara, not as ciara "performer". by performer i mean "smile for the cameras". beauty marks was another moment that i wish in that imaginary album would be further developed. How Russell Love "healed" her and made her "appreciate herself" more, etc. Of course, songs like Iconic I bet, the success of that song is just testimony that apparently I'm not the only one who loves authenticity.

2. authentic fashion brand

i wanted her fashion brand, and she did that, but the clothes and prices is not matching "csquad", looks boring and corporate and one pants was (im talking about Lita by Ciara) around 100$ + and i see now its gone off the website and is just russel brand (good man brand or something) which means it flopped. ok if its quality, but lets be real, designs were boring (like all black pants and mostly winter clothes and tall girl friendly, not even big boobed friendly!!) which made the line limiting.  so in my dream world id have her have fashion like what shes known for for better pricing or bundle deals (look at savage by rihanna, she has deals all the time like victoria secret, like 2 bras for 20$ , hello, ciara didnt do that and even with perfume she released it with russel, not her own perfume wtf).

3. make up line

she did skincare, and so far is amazing even though its just vitamin C, and im waiting to see what will be released new or if anything, but i wished she did make up. how many times revlon and nars would use her stunning face to advertise their make up !!! like cmon. imagine Ciara make up.

4. podcast like summer walker for over it radio

someone here mentioned ciara prayer, i agree it could have been capitalized, but having her own podcast, doesnt have to be 3 hours long, and encouraging women and giving her visible platform to talk about her foundation and amazing work shes doing, she can even give platform to women that are not known yet

5. dance tutorials or app

i say tutorials or app because shes obvs known as dancer legend, and besides giving her bucks, it would be good for her brand, it would at least be aligned with her purpose and impact she already established

absolute no go:

1. leave russ at home at all times

I need Ciara to lean into her middle age and give us a broody soldier of love kind of album. I need live instruments, limited vocals, but have real musicians who can actually play an instrument other than an electric keyboard. I need guitars and sultry moody gongs.

enough of the level up, run it up, bang it up, livin it up, super turnt up, get up same **** different day. NO MORE SONG TITLES WITH THE WORD "UP"!!!!!

Same. I haven't given up on her overall. I think I'll always sit up to see what she's up to loosely. BUT I have absolutely let go of any kind of expectation or daydream of even an R&B-scale comeback. Or even another Level Up moment She's actively making a point NOT to get "it".

(Not to belabor the point), but like others have said, she literally has the handbook right in front of her but refuses to engage.

It's even more jarring when it's all put into context.

Ci's "classmates", aka Rih and to a loose extent Bey, are no longer in reach for insert rising stylists, designers, image consultants, choreographers, etc. On the merit of Ci's name alone not to mention her revitalized celebrity (because of power couple status with Russell), they would JUMP at the opportunity to work with her. She has the unique position of being a viable legacy "name" that could pull in the best of the best from the next crop of tomorrow's talent, while of course, benefiting herself to try and get herself back to where she could and should be.

Similarly, on the music front.

Theron, for example, gives everyone else hits e.g. Rihanna and the like....yet gives Ci continued scraps, but she continues to call him every single time. And, in taking off my stan goggles, it kinda makes sense fiscally (for him). Give the best to who yields the biggest returns $$$$. At the same time, this isn't rocket science and should be something Ci gets, doesn't take personally, but savvily navigates by going in the opposite direction. The hottest new producers killing it on SoundCloud and TikTok are itching for a "name" to jump on their beat to legitimize their hustle. Talent at that stage would, compared to a Theron, give their AAA material to a Ciara for that opportunity.

But again, what's the point of me harping on if the good sis won't do any of it lol.

Ciara genuinely has a lot of industry love both mainstream and indie. She's always being sampled, always invited to the hottest fashion events, even Pitchfork seems to like her they gave Jackie a 5.8 pre-poptimism when any other pop artist would have gotten a 4. There is a cool factor to her even if it's just nostalgia.

She needs to lean into the effortlessly cool veteran vibe. Make some experimental music with HUNGRY writers and producers.

I want to see her take an album and era seriously again, if she insists on continuing making albums. These half baked ideas have been going since "Fantasy Ride", so there's no logical excuse besides her being the problem all along!

First thing first, she needs a real team! Complaining about it being expensive to produce a completely new album as an indie artist sounds like "we gaged it wouldn't have made since to spend money on an all new album when we have songs and videos ppl haven't heard of". She needs a team that has the same vision of putting her career back on track, in more avenues than simply music.

The side projects need the same care and attention as the music, because she's a brand. Music may be the forefront, but she has promising potential elsewhere. Anyone who cannot understand this and shares the same stagnate mindset as Ci, needs to be fired.

There needs to be a distribution deal or a major/stable label partnership. Ciara needs her creative freedom supervised or stripped and she needs a helping hand promoting her music. This girl can't be trusted to promote her own endeavors, which is a direct contradiction of being an independent artist. She needs all the help she can get in bringing her music to life and serving it.

She has to change her stage routines and wardrobe. She's been rocking the "Got Me Good" wig for 13 years, even to her own wedding. Coupled with the tired axx Jackson Family 2 pieces, still pushing the Tom-Boy look since 2006. She's a beautiful woman that's model size, surely there's a stylist that can pull anything besides 2 pieces with chains, belts, loops and sneakers.

There's also needs to be some time getting her in shape for live performances. It's underwhelming seeing her dance, noticeably winded at that, and sing in a deep, husky, withering voice. She wasn't always this hit or miss on stage. A Ciara live performance used to be what sealed the deal for most ppl. Spend some weeks or months training her voice, lungs and body, then start working on rehearsals.

Growth & Maturity needs to show in her music, vocally & lyrically. Ciara's voice has changed & settled, but her lyrics need to reflect that, as well as her life. It's unfortunate that she knows what she needs to do, but refuses, however, that maybe tied into industry trauma. She needs to not only just rediscover herself, but allow herself to grow past 'crunk & b', feel good pop and the same ol' structure of the sexy songs.

I don't mind her still trying to break into the pop atmosphere, but I need something edgier, darker and experimental, yet expressive.

PAINT IT BLACK
spacer.png

This is what her fans have been calling for, now for a decade. It doesn't make sense to play in ppl's faces and not tap in this more.

HAUNTED, Beyoncé
spacer.png

Another pop infusion lane she needs to tap into. She has an amazing body, a song like this could definitely show off that she can serve sexy with more than just rehashing "Promise".

DIE FOR YOU, The Weeknd
spacer.png

I feel as though she's dabbled into sounds like this on "CIARA", but I want her to go fully into something along these lines. Listening to how The Weeknd followed his strengths, vocally, while still constantly evolving is something she needs to take notes from.

FORGIVE ME, ChloexHalle

spacer.png

LONELY, ChloexHalle
spacer.png

I think these girls perfectly captured what should've been a natural progression from "CIARA" to the next project, NOT "Jackie". The sound of their "Ungodly Hour" is a noble companion, sound wise, to what Mike Will Made it, Future and SOUNDZ were trying to craft for her to build upon. The lyrics of these two gems also are the soundtrack of what she was going through, would've perfectly aligned with what the general public and fans were looking for.

I know there's still fans who feed off of sensual songs, but I want her to get far away from continuing to recreate the moments centered around "Promise" & "Body Party". To me, it cheapens the original song when the new song doesn't hold up to unrealistic expectations. She's created some amazing sex songs that she could build upon musically, like this masterpiece!

BACKSEAT, Ciara

For me, personally, this song was better than BP! It's plays upon her (God awful) Crunk n B, while creating a timeless spark that she shouldn't have abandoned.

ROPE BURN, Janet Jackson

spacer.png

I think she needs to take a swing at something like "Rope Burn" and dive into a different world of sexy. Do away with the soccer mom image for a minute and give a glimpse of a new soulful pallet! Honestly, she needs a "The Velvet Rope" that taps into her mind, body, hate, ridicule, happiness, joy and musical imagination.

LIGHTS ON, Normani

Though Normani & Victoria Monét are definitely students of early Ciara, I think this song shows what the students can do for the teacher that is desperately in need of being relatable to this new generation of streamers. It's her most recognizable vibe, but it's modern. Something like this could pull her from the trenches of regular ATL standards when crafting a sexy gem.

She definitely needs to have some colorful, vibrant records to capture her happiness, but nothing like what she's been eager to release.

FAVORITES, Chloë & Anderson Paak.
spacer.png

AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM, Beyoncé

spacer.png

She has to find new sounds to incorporate what's happening in music production now, while still maintaining authenticity, and the ppl are over "Jump", "Got Me Good", "That's How I'm Feeling" type of songs. She's over played her hand by continuing this sound every couple of years since her debut.
