Katy's career in today's pop is hanging by a piece of thread. She's getting dragged, lashed, her last two albums charted a combined 6 weeks on the Billboard 200, Kats are fighting for their lives to disprove her flop status, she's getting dragged front to back by the media and critics. All the good sis has going on for herself currently is tour. 

 

My genuine concern lies here. Why is Katy stuck in this constant state of flop? And more importantly how can she get out of there? Cause I'm starting to get tired and aggravated seeing every pop girl and their momma score a hit like its nothing besides Katy Perry. What is it that Katy can do post 143 to finally make a comeback?

 

Also Kats, don't come fa me. I know it hurts to see our reality for what it is but we have to face it and come with solutions.

tbh what katy needs is a "serious" album. an album that showcases growth and maturity with relatable topics.

Change her sound. Move to more One of the Boys vibes. Stop the overly sexual image and candy-pop sound. There's a much younger version smashing in pure pop with humor and that's Sabrina Carpenter. Katy needs to re-vamp her brand. 

 

But she's getting older so it's not exactly as easy as it would've been if she read the room in 2020.

I agree with this, she should release an album full of "thinking of you" and pop/rock type of songs.  Do some performances where she's playing guitar and serves some vocals and reminds people that she started out as more than a candy-pop artist and still can be.  

Yes. She simply needs to make a Pop/ Rock album produced by Rick Nowels (with contributions from Diane Warren and Maria Vidal), it should have happened years ago.

She should just lean into being a celebrity and do more hosting/judging and release music for herself/her fans.

I'm afraid there's no going back at this point. Katy is done for good, and you need to accept it and move on. A Katy "come-back" is only stan delusion nowadays.

The writing was on the wall with NRO. Good music.

I don't think she can fully save her career after everything 143 meant to it, but a hit thanks to tik tok is doable imo

Yeah Sabrina kinda has the sound she needed. 

But clearly it's an image problem. She needs to be more serious. The sexy fun thing for kids doesn't work 

Maybe a "remix" duets project where she takes each of her hits and does each one with another pop act but remixes it in the style that her duet partner is known for (or just a style that's unexpected in general). She would need some type of palette-cleanser project like that (or an acoustic album) instead of jumping back into a pop project immediately.

No more Dance-Pop. Why she insist on this genre is beyond me.

The only similarity 143 has with her first three albums is that producer. Gaga brought back what people have been missing from her and she didn't have to return to RedOne and her other collaborators. If Katy and her team were smart they would have replicated OOTB and TD from the sound to the aesthetic but with a more mature take.
