The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Gascón set up the interview on her own without the involvement of anyone working on the film, which was distributed by Netflix.

Come on, she never stood a chance in the Best Actress race. It's all between Demi and Fernanda.

Shes saying the selena tweet was fake??

Did anyone actually see it on karlas twitter

I literally just made fun of this mess wondering what the now "Daily 'Emilia Pérez' Update" for Sunday, February 2, 2025 would be.

Good luck booking a Hollywood gig ever again. Not to mention she's been the worst possible option for trans representation at the Oscar's.a Deuces.

It had been verified with the way back machine.

In defending herself against accusations of Islamophobia, Gascón explained through tears that she had a deep personal relationship with a Muslim woman "whom I adore, whom I love and who has taught me so much about respect for people."

What a PR nightmare. The movie is officially buried

Zoe Saldaña should call her and ask her to stop before she ruins her only chance of winning for that ass movie.

I know we joke a lot about where are the PR people in these situations, but really where are the PR people? Doesn't Netflix have a "shut up and follow our directions" team? :rip:

am i the only one who feels this controversy is kinda forced? it's not like she's an A-lister anyway and i get that we like to talk about pop culture even if there are bigger problems in the world, but... there really are bigger problems in the world rn than hating on a random trans woman for making problematic tweets. the movie is panned by audiences already anyway so who cares if the lead actress is problematic

i feel like a lot of people are misplacing their anger with the state of the world onto this random woman who wasn't famous before and likely won't be after oscars either

This is killing me. :rip:
