You think it's forced that people are outraged someone from a marginalized community is pushing hateful rhetoric towards MULTIPLE other marginalized groups? 
 

Of course there will always be that subsection of people amplifying it because they don't like trans people, but that subset =/= everyone. At the end of the day, trans identity is not a shield for justified criticism and accountability 

i believe she's also tarnishing any chances of Emilia Perez or Zoe getting an Oscar with this situation

It's definitely being brought up by one of her competitors to sabotage Oscar chances, and I'm fine with that.

The real reason is that this just was the last straw, people already were in disbelief for a movie with such critical flaws in regards to matters of storytelling, representation etc to even be nominated at the Oscars so they wanna see it sink even more now.

It's crazy how what should be the culmination of the best year of her life and an enormous professional peak has turned out so sour that she's weeping on camera.

 

It really goes to show awards don't mean sh*t. I know she's said questionable things but I hope she figures it out and gets out of whatever dark place she's cornered herself in

She definitely wants to. She's adamant in the interview that she deserves to be there to be judged on her "work". If she ends up not showing up it's because Netflix cut her budget and she can't or doesn't want to foot the bill herself. 

I understand that if you're getting backlash your instinct might be to come forward to defend yourself but talking in the heat of the moment most of the time it doesn't end well. I doubt whatever she says now is going to change people's opinion on her for her fairly recent tweets. I do think people can change and she can try to make things better but it would probably be better for her to pull a "staying off the spotlight to reflect on my actions" and then come forward some time later with good actions actually showing she changed and it's not just words out of her mouth because she's getting dragged.

 

I can see it seems unfair because there's so much worse hollywood and it doesn't get as much hate as she's getting right now but I fear that's because the movie's trending right now. The movie got a lot of acclaim from critics and nominations, so it makes sense people would put their actors on the spotlight and judge their past actions.
