It's slowly putting me into a casual listening era for K-Pop. Seeing a lot of the controversies in 2nd/3rd gen was read blissful ignorance and they were quick to learn from it.

 

nowadays it just feels like you have to take a step back from stanning and just enjoy those who don't keep making excuses this day and age when they have all the resources available to know the difference between culture appreciation and appropriation by now.
 

The YG leaks and KIOF may have been the straw that broke the camel's back since the former won't acknowledge it happened at all; the BP girls (plus CL who I thought would have said something by now consider how vocal she was during the BLM movement) ain't saying anything when they are the main ones inspired by black culture. Julie and friends being tone deaf with the mockery party after already apologizing for saying the n-word pre-debut read as blatantly disrespectful knowing damn well it wasn't a good look but deciding on moving forward with it anyway.

 

idk it just feels like you have to distance yourself from a lot of groups you thought would know better but it caught up making treating black people as nothing more than a concept than an actual culture that deserves respect and consideration like anything else.

Unfortunately my ears were already exposed to those awful songs by LOS SER

so Gnarly isn't even that bad compared to that HOT album.

I'm sending this article in to Kwangya 119. Giselle never mouthed or said that word once in her life. She also both immediately clarified that she was not mouthing any slurs but apologized anyway for the harm the whole situation caused. Conde nast should know better than to not fact check before publishing defamatory statements.

It bothers me how much hate both Taeyeon and Giselle got, ngl. ELFs (SuJu fans) made up a fake translation of Taeyeon saying Alicia Keys is "pretty for a black girl" and Taeyeon got hate for it for over a decade. Giselle was singing along to SZA's "Love Galore" and very clearly closes her mouth and stops when SZA sings the n-word and then fans started using it as an excuse to call her fat, ugly and untalented. 
 

It's just so ******* weird that it's used as a gotcha moment for stanwars instead of being treated like a real issue.

Mind you my other fav literally said the n word on tv and was never forced to even acknowledge it. When it's not Kim Taeyeon who people are weirdly desperate to knock down a peg, suddenly nobody is as outraged.

 

That article literally had multiple positive references to BIGBANG but wanting to imagine Giselle using a slur was shocking to the author. It's the definition of a hit piece.

Gnarly actually has some brilliant moments 

 

However, the song sounds repetitive and incomplete.

It should have had a beat switch-up at some point, we needed more singing to soften the song. Also, needed a proper closure...

there is nothing good I can say about Gnarly... lets get single 2 rolling

 

Gnarly is literally fine if you unclench. However it's very Alice Longyu Gao and I guess her style doesn't really translate well for the masses

she may not said the word but we can't invalidate that many of her POC fans were disappointed. 

 

Tho it's good she still owned it up and APOLOGIZED, never did it again. can't say the same thing for like 99.9% of the industry
