Why do all the other companies get to do New Jeans knockoffs but the company that actually has the ip can't?  Imagine if YG had their crap together, and as soon as Blackpink turned into a phenomenon, they were able to release several Blackpink knockoffs?  Maybe then they get to collect off the success that descended upon (G)I-dle directly, and they wouldn't be in the poor house today.

Companies have limited resources and girl crush idol groups have a limited potential audience. It makes no sense to spend those resources chasing after a piece of the pie that you already own the biggest piece of. That money is better spent trying to double down on what you already have going for you since the return on promoting an already successful group is always going to be bigger.

 

YG actually did kinda do exactly this with WINNER and iKon being obvious attempts at recreating BB at the peak of their global popularity and it failed spectacularly, costing YG some of the precious time they had with their ultimate bread winner and driving off other successful acts who saw YG was turning into a factory for male and female clones of GD. Literally all of YGs current issues can be traced back to cannibalizing their own groups' success(or organized crime).

I dunno.  I haven't formulated an opinion about this group yet (usually wait to see them do something live first ).  The agency's new owners visibly have more money than the previous management, and considering the lack of avant-garde concepts we're debuting with here, maybe they have more common sense, too.  But then what about that group name?

The only thing Gnarly has in common with Stray Global, is this scene, thank God STAYs aren't as toxic as MYs and Blinks, and didn't make this a huge deal

I swear it seems like some people in here can only separate songs between "noise" and "no noise" or "girl crush" or "not girl crush" and that's why everything in their ears sounds the same because I definitely cannot hear any similarities between Gnarly and any SKZ songs or "girl crush" songs from years ago. If something, I think Gnarly sounds like something really on trend whether you like it or not?
