Aside from the production, Dirty Work sucks. Why did they insist on keeping the english phrases in the chorus?

There's a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter where GISELLE explains that the song was purposefully "minimal", so it seems it's intentional that the vocals are more lowkey on this particular song.

 

The group wanted to do something unexpected, considering most people expect maximalist vocals and production from aespa generally. In fact that's something they've even been criticized for in this thread.

 

It's great that they are constantly thinking out of the box and new ways to express themselves and their identity as a group

I have a feeling kpop demon hunters' success will have a big impact on the industry

we all know that kpop companies always copy whatever works

and combining the kpop scene and music with (animated) movies is a new but very lucrative thing

 

wonder where this will go and what company will capitalize on this next. I can see HYBE doing it. SM reviving the ae's....

I think this is actually a good thing. It's not a secret that kpop is mainly for small children in the west(all 3 of the big 3rd gen legends were tamer versions of a 2nd gen group until they matured, stray kids and NewJeans exist, etc, this isnt up for debate) so animation feels like a natural next step.

 

aespa joining in on that after ningning professed her love for hard things would be a choice though!

I was worried the gap since Whiplash release would weaken their post-smash glow, but actually Whiplash held strong all that time. It actually climbed back to #8 in the latest update today

I know lol aespa is lucky they're so succesful with their current sound/image otherwise I'm sure SM would force them right back into it (they still might but let's hope not)
