I'm a bit underwhelmed with aespa's song but I guess that's because SM wasted the hype and song's potential by teasing and spoiling it weeks before the release and there was nothing extraordinary that surprised me 

 

the song is okay, the girls look STUNNING and the visuals are great though, definitely will be another hit for them

that's the case with the whole kpop industry, so it's not to target the girls, just stating the fact that a lot of the idols and companies are using it just as a „concept" and dense kpop stans decide when to accept it and when it's offending, which often depends just on their stan list

I won't even talk about the Ariana remixes.

them going thru the mud is kinda revolutionary

I can't remember any other kpop vid where the members get dirrty like that

Amber got into f(x) specifically because SM thought that a masc woman would help their next girl group stand out.

YG and TBL are especially known for their use of black hip hop culture, often in a questionable way, I think that everyone is aware of that 

 

maybe you're right about the Tarzzan's casting but I think it's not like he adapted to the concept just pre debut, more like Teddy was looking for a guy like him 

 

but I still don't find him harmful as long as he's not making fun of black people and their culture, we will see

the concept is that someone being influenced by some culture isn't a problem in itself, the issue occurs when one claims to love something, live by it, use it in some way (styling, making specific music genre, adapting some behavior) and then making fun of it and mocking it

 

Julie, despite claiming her love for the culture, encouraged making a party where the theme was dress up as a certain group of latino and black community and then mock it, since they're not acting like that on a daily basis… I believe they didn't have any bad intentions and it came from the ignorance, but either way it was questionable

It's a pity because their documentary show was interesting, but their label and management really screwed this up...like really bad.

 

It will be a year since they confirmed their group name/debut soon. Either they will get dropped and go "independent" for a while or they will just go on indefinite hiatus/disband. If they disband I can see it being the quiet kind where they don't tell everyone what is going on.

 

Seems on brand for their management team too. I mean they announced this album through a YouTube description box

Yeah it is. I actually liked all the members they seem to be genuinly nice and not problematic (at least I don't know about anything)

I've had ENOUGH of these talking based Aespa songs, two title tracks in a row now it's far too much. One of of the best groups when it comes to studio vocals and its being wasted. 

No amount of slay in an MV will convince me this song isn't mid. Whiplash suffers from the same issues. Give me a MELODY over this great production
