I find it funny that songs like early TWICE or SNSD, or a red concept Red Velvet could be more appealing to children or be mistaken as childish songs by western audiences but, in reality, these groups never had mostly fans that were kids. Meanwhile, KATSEYE is twerking, showing ass, singing about partying and sex and their fanbase is mostly kids

TB when Ashley Tisdale shook the world by teasing "He Said She Said"
I was gagged when 7yo me found out about the fact that there were three versions: the radio disney version, the album version (which I listened to the most), and the """explicit""" version (explicit for disney standards, it's the one in the music video)

This is why I think sexualization is such an important topic, no matter how much people want to dismiss those who criticize it as "conservative" or "older women jealous of younger women." We have to remember that the entertainment industry exists within a society where women have historically been valued heavily for their bodies and sexuality, and the industry itself has traditionally been dominated by men (so their work enviroment isn't necessarily a safe place.). So when we constantly see female artists being pushed toward increasingly sexualized concepts as they get older, it can reinforce the idea that being sexy is somehow a requirement for being seen as a "mature" woman. This is also where I think choice feminism can oversimplify things. Just because a woman is technically old enough to choose something doesn't mean that choice exists completely outside of societal expectations. If you've spent your entire life being told that being sexy = being mature, desirable, confident, and "cool," then it's worth questioning how much of that choice is actually coming from personal desire versus what you've been taught you're supposed to want. That's why it feels especially uncomfortable to me when people start demanding "sexy" concepts from female idols the second they turn 18. We've heard plenty of female artists talk about regretting how they presented themselves earlier in their careers, and I don't think that necessarily means they suddenly became conservative, republican or "lost their confidence." Sometimes you simply get older and realize that something you thought you had to do to be considered mature or cool was never actually what you wanted. And that's why I really appreciate what Sana said here. There's nothing inherently wrong with wanting a mature or sexy concept, but there shouldn't be an assumption that growing older means you have to leave behind being cute, youthful, or playful. Women should be allowed to age without having their sexuality treated as the inevitable destination.

It doesn't seem that bad now because the current groups are worse in average now. The standards for singing were higher for 3rd gen.

And a lot of people from their company for invited to be voting members. Plus, a rich ass company can do a good campaign as well. ATRL letting their hatred of BTS get in the way of their opinion of this tbh.

BTS announce they will not submit their music to the GRAMMYs this year
It was baffling to me to see atrl not understanding why it's problematic when the new categories came out. Asian pop or kpop is not a music genre and shouldn't be segregated. I'm no longer a fan of BTS but this was actually a nice thing coming from them, people acting dense but they've been nominated before so it's not like getting a grammy was a thing so far off.
