(and also Impossible Princess - I don't want to lose sight of what that album did for the many of the same sounds without even a tiny fraction of the credit, and this album did evoke a LOT of feelings that I recognized from that record and Kylie's 1994 album as well)

I was thinking of Impossible Princess so much when listening :jonnycat:

listening while walking around Prague on this fine morning... blessings, all blessings :clap3: Everyone here is listening EUSEXUA :clap3:

I'll give it another listen tomorrow to see if anything other than the first 4 tracks sticks. The back half just feels like a slog to get through tbh, missing the drama of Magdalene IMO.

I've also heard enough DnB breaks in my lifetime that the striptease change up does nothing for me.

The way many of these songs would fit on CAPRISONGS yet some of y'all pretended to hate it… :celestial5:

my security guard just asked me a dumb question about his car's headlights and backlights girl I'm busy sorry not right now!! besides I don't even have a car

After finishing the album, my initial thought is:

Magdalene > Eusexua > LP1 > (M3LL155X) > Caprisongs

  1. Eusexua
  2. Striptease
  3. Girl Feels Good
  4. Keep It, Hold It
  5. Drums of Death
  6. Room of Fools
  7. Childlike Things
  8. Perfect Stranger
  9. 24h Dog
  10. Sticky
  11. Wanderlust

I cried and then my wig FLEW when Childlike things came on

I will leave my humble review here:

Eusexua

It's incredibly difficult to put into words what Twigs' new work has made me feel since the first listen. I truly believe that this woman is a genuine virtuous of music—a multifaceted artist with a powerful vision and an extraordinary ability to bring what's in her mind to life in such a remarkable way.

For any artist to release a new album that's better than the last one (excluding the mixtape CAPRISONGS) is something few can claim. EUSEXUA stands as her masterpiece for me so far. I can't help but feel a huge sense of vertigo wondering what Twigs will create next, or just how far her artistic reach can go.

Many will criticize her more obvious shift towards commercial pop, but the way she experiments with the tracks—how she shifts from one sonic base to another, layering them in such a dynamic way—combined with a voice that is almost angelic, is simply astounding. Lyrically, MAGDALENE might be a more complete work, but this new project doesn't fall short at all.

It's impossible to pick a single favorite song. Each track is amazing, each surprises in one way or another: from the clear Björk influence in the groundbreaking "Room of Fools," to the devastating "Striptease," the most pop-oriented exercise of her career in "Perfect Stranger," the almost absurd yet charming "Childlike Things," the heart-wrenching "Wanderlust," the Madonna-esque "Girl Feels Good," to the majestic electronic anthem that kicked off this phase, "Eusexua." Even the songs that start slow end up turning into absolute bangers.

It's only been 24 days, but I'm already confident this will likely be my favorite album of the year. I wish this album had been released all at once. The emotional impact of hearing "Eusexua," "Perfect Stranger," and "Drums of Death" together with the rest of the album in sequence would have been unmatched.

Top 5:

  • Eusexua
  • Perfect Stranger
  • Striptease
  • Girl Feels Good
  • Wanderlust (or Sticky, or Room of Fools)

10/10

Has there ever been a more incredible run from an artist from their debut: LP1 - Mag - Eusexua

Perception its funny, I haven't heard Björk influences on it but Madonna's ROL with Kate Bush, there are two songs that sounds straight from the The Sensual World
