"all the love" ... I instantly fell in love with it, I'll listen again to the rest of the album when this smash will let me go :hippo:

I'm tired of the hate train against Katy. Why do people keep picking on her? It's so unfair....... Even though her so-called friends drove her into becoming a rape victim and gossiped about her b

There is no Harley's in Hawaii on this album. I'm sad she proved her haters right. lol

I liked the album; every song is enjoyable minus Woman's World and I'm His, He's Mine (the la da dee sample is so annoying, my god :biblio::shutup:).

Nirvana is that bop I knew it would be. :jonnycat:

Lady Gottwald this song is soooooo bad. Sounds even worse in good headphones.

Luke stuff aside, this is such a disappointing moment for me as a former fan. She's always been laughed at and seen as a generally bad artist with mediocre discography, but I've always been able to find so much fun and joy in her music, her albums were always total pop ear candies with insane replay value. But this.. has nothing. I can't get through a single song in full, there is always something completely off. Most of the material sounds so unfinished, the structuring is not thought out at all, the vocals should be re-recorded, cause they lack any depth or purpose. No catchy melodies, no slick production choices. It's just terrible all around, I don't get how nobody in her circle thought that this is simply levels below anything she's ever put out.

People always **** on Witness, but that album was full of passion. The songs were colorful, sonically interesting, the only thing genuinely bringing some of them down was goofy lyricism (and maybe poor pacing). But everything else had a spark that 143 just lacks..

I mean does she have better albums? Sure. Is it not as passionate as something like Witness? I suppose.. But acting like it's terrible all around is seriously pushing it. There are good elements to the album as well.

I feel like many people listen to the album with the intention to hate it because of the narrative surrounding it and the media scrutiny influencing many of you. But if you listen to this album with a open mind it's really not half as bad as people make it seem.

Album is too short, I enjoyed more the first half, Gimme Gimme, Crush, IHHM and Gorgeous were fun. Second half is okay, Wonder was nice. Let's see how it goes on a 2nd listen :gaycat:

What an interesting development. ATRLers wants to give Witness it's flowers, when as recent of a month ago ATRLers were calling Witness, one of the worst albums produced by an MPG. Why the Sudden Change of Heart I Wonder?

LOL, what happened, what happened?

This album came out.

stop taking the bait.  Someone announcing themselves as a former fan is a strange take to begin with.  That's like me hating Madame X and dismissing Madonna's entire career because of it.  Just take posts with a grain of salt.  It's just bandwagon-ism.

Children's singing voices are annoying in general anyways :cm:

Still I appreciate the work put into that song tho

Crush is definitely dingy bathhouse material. Whenever my friend does their drag shows there I hear stuff like this pumping.

Your honor, its a bop, p o r n o pop.

Are you still here?

After a few more listens, the production is actually quite polished.

I think it would've done so much better if she and her label delayed the release after Woman's World, scrapped it from the record, and removed Luke from all writing credits, and just paid him under the stable (which is still wrong).

I don't think they could've done that though. I think the vinyls had probably already been printed and the VMAs and Rock In Rio were already set in stone. The schedule was fixed.

But what I'm saying is — I think her brand image has been SO  damaged that it's making the music sound worse than it is. We're all thinking, "ew…flop" before even pressing play.

I think it'll age better than how it's being received now. In 30 years time, when gay teenagers on ATRL are discussing how successful 'Teenage Dream' was, some of them will look into her discography, like we all do with Madonna, Kylie and Cher's discographies, and I think they'll enjoy '143' more than anyone here right now is.
