Viewing Topic: Why is it controversial to say Lady Gaga has peaked, on ATRL?
- Today marks 10 years since Britney Spears released her last lead single, "Make Me"
-
Nearly 2 decades into her career, Lady Gaga is thriving. Why?
Because she has talent! And she knows how to GROW it! Because she's HUNGRY for success! Because she's known when to pivot in the past! She knows you can't keep trying to do the same thing and hope for better results! Because, despite the slimy puddle of haters that coagulate from the depths of other girls' careers, she is BELOVED! She has certainly earned her success. She is a legend, in the making if not already.

Why is it controversial to say Lady Gaga has peaked, on ATRL?
The reason you're only noticing it is because you're the one weaponizing something like this, and doing so incorrectly. Today's top streamed songs aren't entirely indicative of her peak. And streams are only one aspect of her success. You're using one detail out of a myriad of metrics, as a weapon, against one particular fan base. Of course you're gonna get push back, this is flamebait. Gaga definitely started with a bang, continued to knock out some heavy hitters into her third era. It's hard to say when, but sure, she did peak somewhere in there, most pop stars do tend to peak in their first two or three eras. But, this kind of topic acts like she hasn't had peaks since then, the most recent being the gargantuan single she released with Bruno Mars a couple years ago. Artists can have multiple peaks in their careers. Her fanbase knows this too, they are not oblivious. It's even jokingly referred to as a "rebeak" (because they know how to poke fun at their own fave when there isn't some OGH trying to damper their enjoyment).

Who will win the Gaga vs Katy war?
Britney may have retired, but I think she still won against Xtina. She got her freedom, she left on a decent note (not a great one, but to better reception than whatever Xtina's been putting out the past decade). The "Amy retired" comment is so far out of pocket, I woulda stopped while you were ahead. As for Gaga and Katy, Gaga could retire right now and Katy could keep throwing sh*t at the wall for another thirty years and Gaga would still have won this I think.

More iconic and successful collabs: Gaga vs Madonna
Madonna has a habit of bringing out the worst in her collaborators, except maybe Justin. The rest legit s-u-c-k. Gaga has a habit of bringing out the best in her collaborators. It makes me think they must really enjoy working with her.

We don't talk about Black Eyed Peas enough
They really "sold out" with The E.N.D. but they did it SUCCESSFULLY. Even The Beginning had some bops! I will always jam out to Elephunk (Hey Mama, Shut Up are both on regular rotation) and Monkey Business (Pump It, Don't Phunk With My Heart, My Humps, Dum Diddley are all classics), but I won't turn off certain songs from The E.N.D. nor The Beginning when they come on shuffle.

The Fame Monster vs Loud
I honestly stream TFM front to back regularly. Each song is fantastic, including Teeth which is often downplayed within her own fandom. A beautiful, concise record. LOUD is also really good, but the only tracks I ever revisit are Only Girl and S&M. Maybe sometimes Man Down, not very often tho. Aesthetically speaking, LOUD some beautiful MVs but I preferred the eccentricities of TFM.

Best 2016 album: ANTI vs Lemonade vs Joanne
For how much Joanne gets dunked on, it's really not that bad of an album when you cut a few songs out of it. I'm tempted to vote for it just to give it a fighting chance on this dogpiling forum. If I don't go for Joanne tho, it's gonna be Lemonade, the last album of Beyoncé's that I actually appreciated as a whole. It really was quite a moment, even if there was some shady business in the background with Tidal and all that. ANTI is… not in the running. Never got the appeal except for a few songs, especially when it had so much hubbub with the pointless anti diary and the multiple MVs for that godawful lead single.
- Looking back at the last 10 years of Katy's career, what went right?
- The last time your fave spent 52 weeks in Billboard 200?
- Gang Bang vs I Feel So Free

Is Mayhem TFM II or BTW II?
It's neither. She did a great job of bringing flavours of her past albums and spicing them up with new ones. It's obviously not a sequel to either of these albums, it's an evolution.

Enough time has passed…
"Enough time has passed…" no it has NOT, I try to put as much time and space between me and this song and someone brings it back up every other month. It is a bad song, and a worse single. And an awful feature. The worst in Christina's discography for sure, probably the worst pop girl song of the year it was released.

Madonna's collab felt natural; Gaga's did not. Do you agree?
Gaga and Bruno's voices blend together so well, on a song Bruno wrote for Gaga, for a different project that was being made at the same time as MAYHEM, with the same producer. But that doesn't sound as natural as Madonna slurring drunkenly at Sabrina? Sabrina sounds like she's about to be sacrificed to a heavily medicated vampire.
- ATRL decides… is Judas Gaga's best song?
