Oh Katy....this is way worse than I expected.  I honestly have no idea how she compared any of this to her previous albums. Or how anyone can rank this above any of her previous albums. She brought back the producer who helped her develop her signature sound/wit/musical style just to make the most unKaty Perry album. Zero personality across this whole thing. For an album that's just supposed to be fun and not deep, it's insanely boring, soulless, uneventful, and uninteresting. Smile was stale af, but it still had moments and felt like a Katy album. This is stale and doesn't even resemble Katy. 

 

If I was ranking Katy's discography, these tracks would be the bottom 11.

the album really doesn't go anywhere. the whole album is worse than prism, witness and smile and I thought it would be pretty hard to go even worse than witness and smile. it sounds like a one whole lifeless uninspired song. why does every song sound unfinished demos?  

 

the production in this album is so generic and cheap they all sound like those free youtube beats

 

so my big question is: why the need to run to dr rape? the production is even more basic than her other dr rape produced albums that literally anyone could've made this album. even max martin alone could've elevated this entire album and made this a little less basic

 

I can see her fans enjoying this cause they've always enjoyed katy's generic, basic, bland and lifeless albums but its a no for me
