Is it possible TS11 < Midnights?

Featured Replies

This isn’t a Taylor hate thread so put the pitchforks down lol. Obviously TS11 will be very successful.

I just notice that whenever Taylor has a re-peak, it usually overshadows the next album.

Fearless > Speak Now

1989 > Reputation

Folklore > Evermore

Midnights > TS11

Or do you think TS11 will break the pattern?

It's certainly possible, let's just hope that won't be the case quality wise :lakitu:

There’s no way that’s happening if even 1989’s re-release was bigger than Midnights

It's hard to predict it. Nobody would have guessed she'd be pulling 1M debuts after Lover, let alone with her re-recordings :deadbanana4: I think her next album will be bigger than Lover but not as big as Midnights

In the US of A, I doubt it

In the rest of the world, who knows?

I think there’s even more growth potential outside of the US with this one. Her colossal European tour leg really has a chance to expand her footprint there.

Midnights is one of her most successful albums ever and my personal favorite album of 2022 so I won't expect similar longevity from TS11. If she gets it, great, but if not, I'd be happy about a few more flawless songs to add to my playlists

the other 3 scenarios were totally different.

Speak Now was her third album, she was yet to prove herself as an artist and she was practically a new artist at the time.

Reputation came 3 years after 1989, while she was at her lowest. She was basically hated by everyone, and she barely promoted the album.

Folklore was a huge moment, but even Taylor herself knew releasing her ninth album after only 4 months wasn't going to be as big of a moment as it was when she released folklore. Evermore is less pop and less commercial than folklore, and people were still not over folklore at the time. Also evermore (which is better than folklore IMO) was a part of her grammy campaign.

With Midnights out and the eras tour breaking every possible record, she's just reaching new pinnacles that no other artist has ever reached. Even a rerecording is doing better than the biggest albums by other artists out there. TS11 is going to be HUGEEE

I feel like it'll be the beginning of a valley in her career, there's no way she can stay at a peak after the level of exposure she's had for the past couple years. And I say this as a fan.

You more or less cannot follow up monumental albums with consecutive monumental albums. It is very rare. To suggest a follow up to a monumentally successful album will be less successful is basically admitting what is going to happen by the natural course of how music careers work. Lol.

if jack antonoff produces it, then yes

This. His sound is getting boring. I want Max Martin back

quality wise, TS11 i suspect will run miles around midnights. commercially hard to tell but the only album that could beat midnights’ record is probably gonna be TS11.

It obviously won't be bigger than Midnights but I think she'll score a Anti-Hero sized hit tho :campfire:

Maybe if Midnights was her only album doing well right now but literally her whole catalog is smashing. She has four albums in the top 10 currently :deadbanana: I think TS11 could genuinely be the biggest pop girl album ever.

Bigger than 21, The Bodyguard, Come On Over?

It will have her biggest debut but IDK about overall success.
