Anti-Hero turns 1

Featured Replies

Wow so many things have happened in the past year that were unfathomable a year ago for Taylor

She scored another #1 hit - that is still charting on the Hot 100 today and is going to be her first single to reach 52 weeks. Her last single to chart for over 30 weeks was Style in 2015.

It became her first global top 10 smash since Look What You Made Me Do over 5 years prior, going #1 in 12+ countries and went top 10 in 30+ countries - her biggest global smash since Blank Space.

It has over a billion streams on Spotify and is her longest running #1 in the US and UK, and spent 28 weeks in the top 10 - breaking Shake It Off's record.

It also made her a radio darling again, becoming her highest peaking airplay single since "Delicate" in 2018. She would go on to snatch another 2 radio top 10s since, the most she's had in an era since "1989"

Her best pop lead single since... since forever really :clap3:

Her first song to reach 52 weeks on chart ever :clap3:

Catalyst for the Taylor radio revival :clap3:

A global smash hit :clap3:

17 years in and getting what is probably her 3rd biggest hit of all time is :jonny5:

I never liked the lyrics of this song and they felt very childish / cringe to me (they still do).

I also always felt like it was only a hit amongst Swifties.

For example Flowers was also a global smash hit, but it felt like an actual hit to me. I heard it irl so many times and locals I know were also bopping to it, none of the locals I know were bopping to Anti-Hero though.

It definitely wasn't on the level of Flowers but it was still a mega hit.

Going #1 in 10+ countries and top 10 in 30+ countries is huge even for Taylor

It's one of her best pop lead singles - she usually picks her worst with We Are Never Getting Back Together or Shake It Off and made radio love her again.

Such an anti-Blank Space somber and equally smartly written song. She definitely hit all the nails in  self-deprecating department. Deserves its success for being uncompromisingly insightful and yet catchy enough. :clap3:

One of her very best pop songs and singles. The lyrics, the melodies, the vocals, and the production are all on point - they’re exactly what they needed to be. She’s able to engage in self-reflection without it feeling overbearingly heavy and un-fun. The vocal approach being different for her, primarily in a higher register, makes it interesting next to her other tracks. I mean, there’s a reason it revived her pop radio career, which directly allowed Cruel Summer to smash so hard after. It’s just a really, really good song.

It's playing at work as I type :jonnycat:

The way it changed the game for her again. She really did it :jonny:

It literally refuses to age. I've played it hundreds upon hundreds of times and still hear the magic. She and Jack really snapped on this and Midnights in general :jamming:

Year later and still feels so fresh.

Remix with Bleachers is such a bop as well :jamming:
