Ok, this is going to sound like an odd answer, but here I go.   If we focus on the music itself without factoring in the artist, folklore is the better album.  It’s a near perfect album.

Folklore only has one skip (mad woman) unlike Red. However, Red is not only the quintessential Taylor album, but also has her highest highs & my favorite TS song of all time (The Lucky One)

The hardest pairing possible in her discography for me. They are both absolutely amazing albums. My opinion on which one's the best always changes. Currently, I prefer folklore. But I'm sure Red TV will have something to say in Autumn/Winter.

Red, easily. Higher highs.

“Sad Beautiful Tragic” could have been a Folklore song.

folklore to me, even though red tv first 6 tracks run is very hard to beat

Red has higher highs, but also way lower lows. Also the first half of the album is way better than the second half.

Folklore is consistently great from beginning to end, but doesn’t have the highlights of Red.

folklore, easily actually. red isn't even in her top 5 anymore

folklore/evermore are the only albums from Swift that I consider good albums. So folklore >>>>>>>

However, RED is the quintessential album from the pop-culture, musical phenomenon that is Taylor Swift.  30 years from now people will look back at Taylor’s career and say that folklore was a perfect album, but RED is her masterpiece.  For that reason RED is the better album in my opinion.

I think I’d have to pick Red.

these are my top two albums from her :jonny:

but it's folklore and it's not close. as a body of work, folklore never dips to the lows of WANEGBT, IKYWT, Stay Stay Stay, or even 22. and it has several songs in the same league as All Too Well (cardigan, august, mirrorball).

red’s highs (i knew you were trouble, all too well, state of grace) are higher but folklore is more consistent so its hard to say. maybe red honestly

folklore. It's hard to make a case for Red with songs like Stay Stay Stay, Girl At Home and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together :rip:

Honestly Folklore is the much stronger record. Way better lyricism, more cohesive. That is her actual magnum opus. The recent acclaim revival of 'Red' feels so incredibly random and forced though. Up until 2018, nobody even considered the Red album that great. After the Lover era, critics like Pitchfork and Rolling Stone randomly bandwagoned the Red revival and really did everything in their power to make that record out to be something it really isn't. It's just another country pop album that Max Martin got his hands on with a handful of very good songs. Some Swifties go as far as saying it's the counterpart of 'Blue' by Joni Mitchell... which is pop culture blasphemy. The record is still a landmark album don't get me wrong, but it's not as good as the critics tell us.

So folklore

Both are in her top 3 albums. I would say Red has the higher highs, but folklore is more consistent and has a better atmosphere.

The one that sounded like an album and didn't have Ed Sheeran on it.

Get real! Ikywt or SOG are not better than Cardigan. Folklore highs are just excellent and it only has highs, no lows.

Red Taylor’s Version is a magnum opus. It’s stacked with mammoth tracks and there’s almost *30* of them.
