Now that AI apps have been unleashed to the oblivious GP who lined up with their pockets and all to feed this tech, companies like Google expanding on it, being daily mainstream news, organizations like the Grammys cosigning it in the entertainment sector....how do we feel about the future of AI?

 

I personally don't see it being utilized in a way to make a positive impact on society. We keep looking for tech to save us from ourselves and I don't think it's the answer. It would be one thing if society was progressing but it's actually regressing and the rapid AI developments are concerning to say the very least. I am against it and have never used apps like ChatGPT and will never.

 

What do we think? Feels like the future is here and it's going to be a grim one for most of us.

I agree with what Open AI’s chief said to Congress. We must step in before it goes too far. Because it will.

Almost every friend I have who’s a lecturer or teacher says they’ve had a student turn in work that’s been AI generated and I know so many people who are using chatgpt for their actual JOBS

 

between this and things like tiktok we’re all becoming chronically lazy and i think that’s the scary part

I completely support AI. I use ChatGPT on a daily basis for everything. As a student and a developer, it’s basically a god sent for me.
 

And this is just the beginning. It’s just a matter of time that specialized AIs pop up and start writing songs, books, movies and creating content that are better than any human could ever come up with. There are endless possibilities on the uses of AI.

 

AI is the next big thing and I’m so excited about its future.

Yeah it’s not as powerful as it used to be

 

But this is just the beginning. GPT-5 is expected to be released later this year and it’s just a matter of time that other competitors catch up

The current generation of ai apps including chatgpt are completely overhyped and most of them completely useless

 

Chatgpt is useful but nowhere near replacing human work, you can easily detect an article written by it.

 

I haven’t seen anything from AI that would completely replace humans, at least not yet.

It's not about AI taking over the arts, but rather about AI being an additional tool or a collaborator in the creative process.

 

The growth of AI in the arts doesn't need to come at the expense of traditional methods. The two can coexist. 

 

AI will be one of the causes of the end of our society. We should stop it as soon as possible.

It’s very overhyped. But there are very valid concerns. I think deepfakes and the way disinformation was already massively amplified in online spaces is going to make for a terrifying sociological phenomenon. Society doesn’t have a firm enough grasp on formation literacy to be quickly deprogrammed from believing ChatGPT generated text that sounds academic  arguing in favor of a dangerous or bigoted conspiracy. 
 

We’re not ready for that. 
 

The fear that AI will become sentient and want to enslave us is complete bulls**t though. It’s a distraction. The way the OpenAI leaders said we should try to legislate all research in large AI models, unless licensed by the government to do such research, to avoid self aware AI is actually horrifying. One, self aware AI isn’t remotely happening and there’s a good argument to be had that it’s physically impossible with digital computers. Two, a lot of AI research is now focused on explainable AI or mechanistic interpretability where the goal is to better understand the models to make focused correction to remove things like bias. You can’t do that research without working with large models. Restricting permissions to do that to large companies is a horrible idea and it makes sense OpenAI wants that to themselves. Three, OpenAI and other leaders are pushing current day tech issue to the golden goose of self aware AI. “We need to regulate AI to prevent disinformation on social media!!” Or… we could just regulate information and social media platforms as they are now? Why wait for self aware AI?

 

So, yeah, it’s a big problem. But there are a lot of dishonest and/or uninformed actors that should be ignored. Finally, the hype often distracts you from the real issues. 

I don’t support it and its slowly ruining humanity. 

At the very most I think they’ll have to make new laws against the use of it for specific applications, but in no way will it start becoming sentient or take jobs

AI scares the **** out of me 

I don't think that the system is suitable for AI as it is now. AI can potentially hurt a subset of the workforce, and while it's good for the higher-ups, the rank and file will definitelly suffer. Creatives (writers, artists) are already experiencing difficulties due to AI, be that AI art or the flux of AI-written books cluttering Amazon Kindle and decreasing the chances of being discovered and read for real authors. And while I'm not a teacher now, I used to be, and I cannot imagine the mess in the system. On the one hand, it will probably lead to positive changes in education and maybe essays, which could already be written by someone for you, will be replaced by a better tool of assessing a student's knowledge. On the other hand, teachers are quite mistreated, and it only adds to their overflown plate, so everything might as well break down there. That said, I don't think that AI in itself is the enemy, it's just as good as the people who use it, and it can be handy for those who possess a certain skill and want to tinker with it or save time. 

I love it. With the right prompts ChatGPT can be the most useful thing. But is important to double check cause it creates a lot of fake content 
With an AI Website i was able to create like 30 acapellas from Shakira singin other songs from Gaga-miley-madonna......
With AI i was able to get all the official instrumentals from some of my fave albums
I been also able to bring my ideas to life with the image generators and create beautiful art
