She didn’t give a date on her live, but she said we’ll be getting “snacks” leading up to the album release.  
 

So it sounds like other singles are already planned.  

 

 

 

The ‘real’ lead should hopefully come at the start of July.

 

My bets is it’ll be Paint The Town Red and the music video will be a continuation of the Attention video.

I get the corny complaints about the verses - I can't quite buy hard-edged doja compared to like, snippy putdown doja - but the chorus is lovely and the whole thing works as a package for me.

Two days of a song not demolishing the charts are really enough for some of you to start putting down girls who are just trying to do something different, like, let them do their thing.

and both pretty much failed. Nobody remembers that halsey album and nobody is giving any attention to this single.

That forgotten Halsey album has 80 on Metacritic, over 300 millions of streams on Spotify alone and we're here discussing it and Miss Doja's new single Attention.

 

If you want to conjecture how much they were aiming for critical acclaim good luck with that, I don't care as long as the music is good.

My friends were not vibing with this song when it came on in my car. They changed it.

It would have made a stronger statement if she hadn't surrounded the lyrics with that weird poppy chorus, and her boobs out in the video. She's too scared to let music stand on it's own.  At the same time, she is signed to Luke, so she may not be allowed to go too far into rap. It'd be Kesha 2.0.

Not necessarily.  TTH is based on historical performance on the playlist.  Most of Dojas other TTH placements were actual hits (and stayed on TTH for a while)…so I’m not surprised she placed high there.  Labels don’t actually have to pay for that.
 

But I think we’ll know if it was planned or not, based on how quickly another song + video drops.   Let’s see.

i was surprised it was not top 50 at pop radio and based on it's gains it would have been a few days before it made it . this will be similar to the Jonas Brothers with Wings which did not get a radio push and followed with Waffle House.

Hmmm not necessarily. High TTH debut was a given for an artist as successful on Spotify as Doja. Ariana's "Test Drive" was #1 and never became a single. Beyonce's AHAP remix also debuted at #1 recently (although it dropped to #5 pretty quick). Music videos are pretty arbitrary too at this point. The video for this is not super expensive or flashy, it basically previews the bloody naked look that will probably feature in the next video.

 

Anyway, this is a single. Whether it's declared the lead or a buzz is a thin line at this point. They seem to be on the fence about it anyway. They didn't give it a radio deal (like one would expect for Doja's lead after her radio domination in 2021-22) or an impact date but they did service it to radio to see if they pick it up on their own volition and it already has a few early adds on pop and rhythmic. The numbers will decide its status.
