I feel like if this was about the tour it would’ve said + had dates.  So it’s def about music.  
 

 

 

4 minute+ song (most are usually 2 minutes with catchy hook), no feature , leaked release date, no playlisting , no promo,no RADIO, no tiktok challenge (love that app btw), FLOP music video, No remixes or sped up versions . Just pure fan love 

Shame on that debut. It deserved top 20 at least. And I fear there’s no prediction to rise too

Not a bad debut all things considered but I hoped for higher. She also did it without any gimmicks, so that’s certainly notable. The important thing is that it’s been well-received. 

Yeah I don't think a lot of people realize this but this song alone has done so much restoration for her image with a lot of the hip hop critics on the internet acclaiming it. The same people who previously just viewed her as a popstar who makes radio hits. This being a return to her earliest sounds while still having that modern Doja twist is what makes it stand out.

The song being stable on Apple and Spotify the whole debut week just to plummet the next is weird…

Well, promo single or not, we should all agree that this is not good for her.

 

Attention is like the 1st song she released since a whole year, she's just going out of one of the biggest era for a female artist these last 2 years, I thought people would've been more curious, at least for the 1st week.

 

I'm disappointed by the reaction.

People think charts actually matter these days lmao

Nobody will remember the chart position, everyone in the hiphop community/her fanbase WILL remember the impact

But this is ATRL, they only give a **** about streaming numbers and chart positions, not IMPACT

Some of the biggest artists in the WORLD are nowhere to be found on the Hot 100, are going fully independent, selling out arenas and going D2C with their fanbases... shes smart, she knows what shes doing

 

Shes showing was ARTISTRY is, thats EVOLUTION from era to era

Think about is... the good sis HATES the industry way of doing things... her carving her OWN lane and exiting out of a major label situation in the long run by securing a fanbase/acclaim in her community = long term play, longevity and complete artistic control and freedom... she really said arts, not charts, and she did the right damn thing. She isnt a Nicki clone, she isnt an industry puppet pumping out TikTok **** and whats hot right now, shes staying true to HER artistic vision. Thats why shes gonna win in the long term. Nobody is checking for Hot ****, Latto or any of these other girls in the long run, mark my words. Doja can do it ALL, and she just proved it with this single. ICONIC ****. Hip Hop heads will get it - this ***** really just dropped a sickening boom bap lead single after smashing with pop singles: shes truly Nicki's successor and yet in her own entire lane.

 

Go look at Logic - pure hip hop, started his own label, owns all his masters, all his album sales, charting without any label backing etc. Iconic ****.

I wouldn’t worry unless she tanked with an obvious made for radio single like kiss me more. This is an excellent album sampler and one of the best things shes ever made. I just hope we don’t have to wait too long for what i presume is the real lead.

 

also if there is anything on the album with hit potential, the tik tok girls will find it

She doesn’t need to rework anything, she said the album has “variety of sounds” + is “a fun record”

The dramatics in here  

 

Yall do know NTK debuted at #38 and went on to be one of her biggest hits.   Chart debuts don’t mean anything ultimately when it comes to the longevity of a song.  
 

I don’t think this song will be a NTK necessarily, b/c it wasn’t meant to be the lead anyways…but just saying. Don’t get all bent out of shape because of one song peak.  

Doja is fine, I just don’t think this song is that good. The verses don’t punch hard enough lyrically for me (she’s gone harder on Hot Pink and Ámala) and the chorus is kinda grating.

 

 

We need another Tia Tamera if she wants a rap hit

I expected top 20 without paying attention to the numbers throughout the week solely based on hype. Release the bop 2nd Doja!

My thoughts on this.

 

Not the most replay value compared to her previous singles but she even said it wasn't intended for that. I enjoyed the message but i'm ready for what is next. 

 

Yeah it kind of flopped but it was to be expected. This era is serving Janet's Velvet rope IMO and this is her "Got til its gone". I have faith that theres a "Together again" on the album waiting to smash.
