SYG: 2026
People need to stop doing X vs Emotion threads. People will lie to themselves and pick X, only for the next quick lil homo album to come along and find itself once again compared to Emotion while X is completely forgagatten.

Charli xcx - 'Music, Fashion, Film'
First listen!: RAWK MUSIC: Still like this a lot Cheeky and fun but sincere, makes a lot of sense that this was the lead. SS26: Still weak to me... beautiful melody but I think the lyrics are kinda surface level hackneyed observations that unfortunately undermine the whole thing because of how sparse everything else is. Card Declined: Was expecting more from the hype and Sleigh Bells comparisons (???) but it's a fun girl anyway. Again idk this is well-trodden ground lyrically, even in the pop sphere, and I find it a little baffling the level of praise ms Charli can leverage for ye olde Money And Fame Can't Buy Happiness. Camera: Liking it more and more. Charli as always is great at bigger emotions and you feel that she feels what she says in this. Love how the production swells towards the back too! 2007: Cute but kinda disposable girl. Like the glitchy chorus. I'm Afraid: Very beautiful all around Yeah: I think this is more what I expected when she said she's making RAWK MUSIC and accordingly I like it a lot! Wink Wink: I think this is one of her worst singles and certainly a baffling choice to pick off of the album. An attempt at tiktok virality with the lyrics? Idk. This really does absolutely nothing for me, just adrift with a flat chorus that isn't as much of a hook as it seems to think. Persona: Fun and almost sucker-y? Like! Magic Metal Montana: Very cute and love that AG is getting some lyrical attention from her. Beautiful soundscape! No One Lasts Forever: The lyrical introspection lands a lot better here than on a bunch of the singles and I actually really like the spoken word portion. Good closer. Overall very pleasantly surprised because half the singles were kinda bad, but turns out they were low points on the record. It's actually one of her most consistent efforts I feel! Simultaneously I don't think anything really touches her previous highs but this is probably her most cohesive body of work that feels more focused on the whole-album experience.

chvrchzzzzzz make the blandest snoringest nothingest synth pop of all time, they were lucky to have the 5 minutes of minor blog fame they did. Maybe if you aren't from the UK a Scottish accent is novel enough to make it interesting or something.

Charli xcx - "Camera"
I like this one, I think it's the only track since Rock Music where the writing has withstood the soundscape. And great video! But really I do wish this era as a whole was a bit less... polite and straightforward.

daine - 'In Endless Awe & Agony'
I agree with the indie sleaze pivot being lame (and agreed on it being a corny fad in general) but PQC is kinda my favourite song from her in a while... I'm keeping an open mind

Sleigh bells-coded...

Tinashe - "Crash Out"
Too Easy is BETTER but this is still cute

Carly Rae Jepsen - "After All"
On Wires was amazing but the production on this feels flat and deflated the whole track... I'll give it some time

New photos from the set of "American Horror Story" Season 13
Having had the misfortune of watching while it was coming out Coven is honestly one of the worst seasons of television I've seen and was such a crazy step down from Asylum. The way I'd groan every week when they would resurrect all the characters they killed off the previous episode But gay people decided to gas it up because it's Yass Slay Cunty or whatever. And now we have to deal with this.

Let's not slander XCX World when Good Girls made more noise this year than any of the singles off of MuFF

Charli wants to fight Peppa Pig for shading Clairo + Pinkpantheress demands respect
Clairo is perhaps the most insidious music psyop of all time... innocent Peppa will be crucified by the industry minions for bravely saying that the emperor is wearing no clothes.

UPDATE: Halsey vs Fantano: Fantano drags Halsey's past making out with underage fans
Idc about any of this whatsoever but it has always been so funny to me how people drag Fantano for being a 'pretend' music critic. Like did you think every reviewer before him went to Professional Music Reviewing School? It has never been a career requiring highly credentialed entry. If he is a faux music critic then surely Halsey is a faux musician for having no formal musical education
