Billie and Finneas swept in 2020, so it’s too soon to tell. 

All i want is raye for BNA and SZA for AOTY. Hopefully DL3 becomes a real contender

I wasn’t. Wiki and other sites just show his name only, but yeah obvs Billie too. 

They will probably be less common with the way the membership has expanded, unless you get someone like Billie and Finneas who check a lot of boxes/can be consensus picks

But in all seriousness, I think voters were just momentarily tired of the dominance Adele and Beyonce had on grammys, so they voted for others for a temporary change, it’s probably gonna change as soon as they get a new darling.

Yep! And Taylor will no longer be able to bribe her way to AOTY wins.  

i don't think we can tell yet but i honestly prefer it this way, distributing awards seems more fair, even though a sweep now and then would be funny

We just didn't have a big enough era for a sweep imo

The only close case was Olivia but she wasn't that acclaimed, I think that if Silk Sonic released for 2022 elegibility they would've easily have a clean sweep

I think they should do sweeps every few years just for the kii 

There wasn't just one artist that overwhelmingly dominated last year. I'm sure there will be more sweeps in the future, but we shall see!  

there wasn't a sweep bc it wasn't indicated this time. Renaissance deserved but we all know if Lemonade couldn't do it, Renaissance has lower chances.

 

I'm sure more sweeps will happen in the future. And I hope Beyonce wins AOTY next time she's nominated for it.

Yeah, this is true. Also with way more nominees, it just spreads the concentration of votes into a much larger pool. I kind of dislike it because of what happened with Samara Joy. No shade to her, but she really benefitted from this, because there were lots of other nobodies in the BNA category who probably only picked up a couple votes each, and she was just able to squeak by through garnering a plurality of support thanks to the jazz world's voting bloc.

Silk Sonic won 4/4 last year

I hope so. The 25 and 24K Magic sweeps were unearned. Wouldn’t have minded terribly if Billie lost SOTY, either.
