It's actually fairly rated tbh  it's the first truly GREAT mainstream pop song released in a while

The way she went from PH to this is … disappointing to say the least but at least she’s smashing so good for her 

I agree. She's a cute girl. But the PH and She is Coming stuff is way better. I'm glad she's smashing though Miley deserves this.

Overrated isn’t the word. I just think people forgot what she’s capable of. Plastic Hearts was severely underrated, so to come back from that strong she had to somewhat make it a little basic to appeal to the all American demographic. It’s not at all bad, but it’s doing exactly what it has to do. I’d be disappointed if the rest of the album falls into the same realm sonically, but I don’t think that’ll be the case.

It's a bit bland and generic, but also catchy. People tend to forget that those songs are often the hits.

Mid at best.

every year, the public picks a song randomly and makes it huuge, like Stay, Good 4 U

Flowers is just the right song at the right timing

I thought Rih had it this year but Miley was faster

I don't know if people's perception has changed after smashing so hard but the initial perception was that the song was decent. Nothing too good or too bad. It was just a nice song. So I wouldn't say the song is overrated. It just happened to connect with the GP and it's smashing extremely hard. 

 

It proves that you don't need to release the best song of your career to have a defining hit. All you need is a nice track, a good team behind you and luck.
