Arent dino, dk, seungkwan and woozi the least popular and less biased members? I always see them at the bottoms in rankings, i'm aware this are made by fans using kpop profiles and other stuff and not as reliable but somehow this 4 are always in the bottom

Yeah, those 4 are definitely some of the least biased, but within Korea, Vernon’s popularity isn’t as high comparatively to his popularity oversees

has SM blocked all her solo CF offers so far? i'm surprised she's not in more ads/up there on the brand recognition thing

As a SVT photocard collector, it’s hard to trade photocard when you have Dino, Vernon, Seungkwan & Woozi. And tough to sell as well, even with cheap price.

I thought DK was not popular too, but I never really have problem to trade or sell his photocards. And I pulled lot of DK’s pc from the album but he was so easy to trade. Like in just one or two days, everything is gone either by trading or selling. I’m quite surprised by his popularity.

Wonwoo, Mingyu & Jeonghan photocards were the easiest to trade and sell.

Let's be ONE HUNDRED PERCENT REAL.

Danielle is not that great of a singer and I wouldn't be surprised if the company used some tricks (ghost singer, tech wizardry) for her rendition of the Part of Your World.

But it's very clear why Hybe pushed her into that role when a hundred other voice actresses would have slayed.

Koreans are still angry and racist towards Halle, a black girl, playing Ariel, calling her a black monster and everything else. And we know that as xenophobic as Koreans can be against half-Korean kids, on some level they do appreciate whiteness to a large extent. They wanted a white Ariel. Hybe, her record label used that to sneak Danielle in there to get her more promo so she can prop her up as the ~people's Little Mermaid~, the TRUE Little Mermaid because look at her proximity to whiteness and how skinny and white and pretty she looks. And you can tell by the comments from Koreans saying "oh now she looks like she can be a mermaid" which it's like...huh what are mermaids supposed to look like?

Koreans can be so nasty ugh. :biblio:

Newjeans also with handmics and singing live today :clap3:

Wait is everybody BUT Danielle singing live? Or her vocals is just that stable and clear, like it's very sus?

Hyein's vocals shocked me the most because they are the most stable and her parts are relatively more challenging than the others

Minji sounded stable as well but that may be attributable to her having very few lines and huge gaps in between so she didn't break a sweat with her singing

Is this their new fanchant or?? I almost got a heart attack :deadbanana4:

I wonder why nobody wants to take this up because it is an interesting question I've been wondering about.

I do think that the Big 4 went after X1 specifically because they were afraid that group would be another 'bullfrog in the ecosystem' like Wanna One and take fans away from their boy groups. And while Wanna One disrupted a lot of boy groups' popularity at the time of their run from 2017-2018, a lot of those 3rd gen boy groups survived and are even thriving now (ie Seventeen).

If X1 hadn't been sabotaged, it would have generated more public interest in 4th gen boy groups, which could have spilled over to the others. But right now 4th gen Boy groups largely only appeal to fans.

What's strange to me is that 4th gen boy groups, at least the big ones like TXT, Stray Kids, Ateez, have big international followings and get a lot of money via touring. But there was a point during covid when they couldn't tour. That should have been when they concentrated on the general public more. But I think the public just wasn't interested. Maybe the personalities or visuals just aren't unique enough? Looking at some of the new crop of boy groups like BoyNextDoor all the boys look like a variation on a theme, and they all have the Hybe nose. I can't really tell them apart from say lun8 coming out of Fantagio.

I think Hyunjin from Stray Kids could have been a general public it boy if it weren't for the bullying scandal. With TXT's Yeonjun, he also had what it took, but his company was way too aggressive in pushing him as an It Boy, literally forcing the label down everyone's throats and it turned a lot of people off.

I think though that the biggest reason why 4th gen boy groups didn't take off is because of BTS, sadly. BTS was just too massive. And there isn't a boy group that seems like they'll be able to outdo that success in a generation...maybe a couple of decades. Who knows, of course. But BTS took up a lot of space and that didn't really allow other boy groups to grow and develop their own fans as much as earlier generations that would rise when the older groups were ready to bow out. BTS made the bar of success so high that if you can't sell 1 million albums your first day, you're considered a flop and nobody wants to deal with you because everyone in Kpop craves and expects instant success. A lot of 4th gen boy groups just don't have a chance when the bar is that high right off the bat.

But this is all just spitballing. I really don't know.

The thing about the 4th gen bg landscape is that they are in the same situation as what the 3rd gen ggs were in, where there were only 3 groups dominating like BP, TWICE, RV. The 4th gen bg trinity consists of SKZ, TXT and ENHYPEN with groups like TREASURE and ATEEZ being the Mamamoo and Gfriend while the rest are just a bunch of nugus.

The 3rd gen bg landscape was the complete opposite where we had BTS, EXO, SVT, NCT, GOT7, iKON, Monsta X, Winner etc.

The 4th gen bg landscape simply just lacks competition, since it’s harder for new bgs to compete with already established bgs

compared to ggs. This is why companies who are about to debut new bgs right now are pushing this whole “5th gen” agenda, to make their bgs stand out more and not be directly compared to already established 4th gen bgs like SKZ & TXT. It’s all a marketing tactic.
However with ZB1, BoyNextDoor, JYP LOUD, SMNBG etc. debuting this year, the boy group landscape in general is about to be more interesting just like how it happened with the 4th gen ggs last year.

And the closest thing to a “4th gen it boy” right now is probably Felix.

The way HYBE has been pushing Yeonjun as this “4th gen it-boy” is quite corny and  embarrassing especially when at least 3 SKZ members are more popular than him :dies: Luckily you will never see JYP media playing something like that, thank god!

Anyways it’s very impressive how some of these 4th gen bgs are able to keep up with the 4th ggs since they have literally 0 support domestically, but somehow some of them still being able to compete and even surpass their gg peers when looking at overall numbers.

You can really see the difference here between the choreos for each song and how Spicy GREATLY improves on their previous work in that department. Illusion in particularly looks goofy in certain parts. Unacceptable for such a fantastic song, lol.

I wish they'd let them sing live for all the songs. These girls can SING. :gaycat5:

Most of their Kwangya work you can tell SM were thinking of TV but not concert or public events, cause most of aespa songs until this album have terrible choreographies.

It's cute on the MV and music shows but once you go out of the trained/pre produced camera, it's a mess.

imagine if spicy goes #1

not them beating all the groups people used to say their were over, how ironic :celestial5:

Aespa snatching Sakura's wig :jonny6: they are coming for that RAK, Soyeon & friends better hold off

notice how quiet this thread is now that aespa is back to smashing lmfao

I'll give you that, but that's "Shooting Star". I was quoting "Left Right" which doesn't seem to have any Black people involved in its writing or production which again makes me wonder where it comes from :toofunny3:
