Newjeans also with handmics and singing live today :clap3:

What's throwing me off about this is the backtrack is SO LOUD and yes, they're holding hand mics and singing live, but the backtrack is mostly all you can hear and their actual live voices are weak, fragile and in some cases cracking or off key.

I think Kpop companies are trying to have their cake and eat it to, trying to show their girl groups can sing live but then having the back track so loud you can sort of hear a bit of their voices behind it but can't actually tell how good they are or how much effort they're putting into it.

If you want to get flowers from singing live you've got to turn off the back track and sing. Period.

Not a single 4th generation bg member in the top 30.

While the 4th GGs are breaking all kind of records, the BGs are ALL massive flops. A lost generation.

Let's talk about this

I wonder why nobody wants to take this up because it is an interesting question I've been wondering about.

I do think that the Big 4 went after X1 specifically because they were afraid that group would be another 'bullfrog in the ecosystem' like Wanna One and take fans away from their boy groups. And while Wanna One disrupted a lot of boy groups' popularity at the time of their run from 2017-2018, a lot of those 3rd gen boy groups survived and are even thriving now (ie Seventeen).

If X1 hadn't been sabotaged, it would have generated more public interest in 4th gen boy groups, which could have spilled over to the others. But right now 4th gen Boy groups largely only appeal to fans.

What's strange to me is that 4th gen boy groups, at least the big ones like TXT, Stray Kids, Ateez, have big international followings and get a lot of money via touring. But there was a point during covid when they couldn't tour. That should have been when they concentrated on the general public more. But I think the public just wasn't interested. Maybe the personalities or visuals just aren't unique enough? Looking at some of the new crop of boy groups like BoyNextDoor all the boys look like a variation on a theme, and they all have the Hybe nose. I can't really tell them apart from say lun8 coming out of Fantagio.

I think Hyunjin from Stray Kids could have been a general public it boy if it weren't for the bullying scandal. With TXT's Yeonjun, he also had what it took, but his company was way too aggressive in pushing him as an It Boy, literally forcing the label down everyone's throats and it turned a lot of people off.

I think though that the biggest reason why 4th gen boy groups didn't take off is because of BTS, sadly. BTS was just too massive. And there isn't a boy group that seems like they'll be able to outdo that success in a generation...maybe a couple of decades. Who knows, of course. But BTS took up a lot of space and that didn't really allow other boy groups to grow and develop their own fans as much as earlier generations that would rise when the older groups were ready to bow out. BTS made the bar of success so high that if you can't sell 1 million albums your first day, you're considered a flop and nobody wants to deal with you because everyone in Kpop craves and expects instant success. A lot of 4th gen boy groups just don't have a chance when the bar is that high right off the bat.

But this is all just spitballing. I really don't know.

Danielle can’t sing Ditto live but somehow she got casted to sing The Part of the World :dies:

Let's be ONE HUNDRED PERCENT REAL.

Danielle is not that great of a singer and I wouldn't be surprised if the company used some tricks (ghost singer, tech wizardry) for her rendition of the Part of Your World.

But it's very clear why Hybe pushed her into that role when a hundred other voice actresses would have slayed.

Koreans are still angry and racist towards Halle, a black girl, playing Ariel, calling her a black monster and everything else. And we know that as xenophobic as Koreans can be against half-Korean kids, on some level they do appreciate whiteness to a large extent. They wanted a white Ariel. Hybe, her record label used that to sneak Danielle in there to get her more promo so she can prop her up as the ~people's Little Mermaid~, the TRUE Little Mermaid because look at her proximity to whiteness and how skinny and white and pretty she looks. And you can tell by the comments from Koreans saying "oh now she looks like she can be a mermaid" which it's like...huh what are mermaids supposed to look like?

probably only 1 in stock and JYP bought it

It's easy to break profit records for tours and album sales when you're charging people their 401Ks for a ticket and an album I guess :michael:

The Solo female market is very hard so I'm rooting for her. I still think she would have fit so well as the face of a group.

I just really wonder what happened with her and JYP.

HyunA is working on a new album, without agency, she's doing it on her own for the moment.

But there is something so cool and weird about her, she has been performing in Hong Kong, Bangkok Taiwan and Korea non stop since she has no agency backing her. And when she's not performing she is doing photoshoots or is at every social events. She hasn't spent a day without a job. At this point I believe that it's her companies that have been holding her down.

I feel like in the upcoming years more known and established idols might forgo having an all encompassing agency and go mostly independent with a music distributor.

Where does Vernon fall in the group’s popularity both internationally and domestically?

Vernon’s popular internationally, and is a usual stan attractor for oversees fans who first discover SVT, but unfortunately he’s basically at the bottom end when it comes to Korea :!ohno:

Arent dino, dk, seungkwan and woozi the least popular and less biased members? I always see them at the bottoms in rankings, i'm aware this are made by fans using kpop profiles and other stuff and not as reliable but somehow this 4 are always in the bottom

Hybe is pushing the wrong Txt member btw. Soobin could have been huge if HYBE capitalized on his music bank popularity like Arin team did. She was literally everywhere.

Except Koreans comments are mixed? Her enunciation is getting mixed reviews and it’s something that they really care about.

Ofc they used some technicals tricks for her reedition. How can she was able  to do the high notes on Part of the world when her voice is this thin when she’s singing Ditto and OMG?

Idk maybe you’re right about her being white playing a part. Bc if Disney wanted a NJ members they would have booked the populars members and not Danielle.
