Adele: What went wrong?

Featured Replies

"30" was a huge underperformance, the album spawned only one hit and sold like a fraction of what "25" did. The follow-up singles "Oh my God" and "I drink wine" straight up BOMBED.

It felt like people moved on from Adeles new era the week after the album got released.

What went wrong? :celestial5:

Adele's going wrong is the best-selling album in a two-year period so I think she's just fine.

Nothing. Only OAHs (especially Adele's second fanbase) are fuming.

Nothing went wrong. This forum is really crazy. lol

The album got released just 7 months ago and its already completely forgotten. :gaycat6:

She sold physical copies, let's give her that. Was it a decline? Yes. Did she cancel her Vegas residency? Yes. Did the singles flop sans the lead? Yes

People got tired of the one trick pony

Also the music was very bad and bland

She's fine.

But Easy On Me was definitely the wrong lead.

Nothing.

She's the music industry for a reason.

Stop with the same topic boo.

How is that different from Gaga/Katy/Beyonce etc?

it's literally impossible for an artist not to eventually underperform by their own standards if they continue to release music, when will some of you learn :rip:

The album is lackluster

But she still got a big hit and enough sales that it wouldn't be considered a flop for just about any other pop girl. She'll be fine

Agreed! :jonnycat:

Very long break hurt her. In the streaming era you need to constantly give it to your fans hard to stream on Spotify.. Taylor Swift has identified this and course corrected her career quickly (by releasing reputation 2 weeks after release on streaming etc) Adele failed to realise and thought she would continue to sell on her name alone. The GP put her in her place ( at #2 as of now after Taylor) but soon she will struggle to be in top 10 females if she doesn't course correct.

Last but not the least... an overweight thicquè Adele was more relatable to almost everyone.

This. The way it’s ALWAYS Swifties making these threads and fueling them.

She has not promoted the album in the US at all since release and barely done any promo elsewhere. The album is full of 5-6 minute songs. Like.

Get a life. The same threads every week.

She was not even the best selling album of 2021 much less 2020 and 2021

When ppl don’t actually listen to the album and its lyrical meaning and only look at numbers and hype, that’s what went wrong :giraffe: the amount of ppl thinking 30 is the same as 25 is just :rip:

but seriously, 30 definitely underperformed but you guys are acting shes now a B-rate artist or what :rip:
