Horrible singles

30 definitely underperformed. 25 is number 4 on iTunes WW after 6.5 years but 30 is struggling to stay in the top 200 after 0.5 years. I know iTunes is irrelevant but it is still telling of the bigger picture. She’s still one of the biggest artists in the world though. The album just didn’t connect. She needs to regroup and change artistic direction; she won’t though because she doesn’t care. Who knows if she’ll even drop another album this decade let alone actually go through the effort to plan an era that targets the core commercial demographics. EOM was a great and very successful lead. Most of the rest of the album is just too “artsy” and “hobby-ish” which threw off the entire era.

The album was boring and she offered nothing new. Plus she looks skinny now which makes her less recognizable

30 has 2.5M SEA units so even if you add all of 30's shipments(4.6M), it wouldn't catch Sour's SEA units alone, let alone it's total units.

30 was not a flop. She just took too long of a break. The industry changed drastically between 2015 and 2021. The residency mess is what hurt her the most.

Not the source for sales still being the record labels lying for some people 

The way that fandom constantly tries to retcon the album as a flop when it outsold literally very album since 25 is just 

 

Nothing went wrong, people bought the album but it didn’t translate well to streaming because the songs are too long and the promo beyond that first stretch has been horrible.

30 - 1.7B

 

Difference - 5.3B - 3.5m album units (only Spotify) 

 

Here, HDD numbers which is actually higher than CM

Same old boring and bland music.  She's never actually really been that interesting of an artist, her voice could only do so much. Guess the GP finally got tired

Sweetie, chartdata didn’t provide Adele total units to compare to. She moved 5 million pure in the first few weeks alone. There’s just not a comparison. She moved Sour US total in 2.5 days.

What? Neither of these are true. 

 

Its total shipments in 2021(2 months) was 4.6M (shipments, not sales). 

 

To this day, Sour has moved 3.4M units in US. 30 has 2.6M.

Stream units are daily updated, only pure sales are not updated and i linked it to you for the SEA units. You can literally see the "daily units" part.

What went wrong? The lack of promotion and the whole Vegas disaster.

She's only released two singles, not three as some are saying here. I Drink Wine wasn't released as a single anywhere.

She has yet to confirm the new Vegas dates, Hyde Park is coming and they're probably releasing two more singles - even though I doubt the latter since she only cares for her boyfriend now, apparently. Not people calling the album a snooze because it sounds like her previous ones - which is not true, when their faves have nothing innovative on their discographies.

 

I do agree that she needs to regroup and show some interest, because the climate has changed quite a lot since 2016.

She didn't release All Night Parking and Cry Your Heart Out as the second and third singles.

There is a huge difference and the user i quoted didn't only claim 30 as the biggest 2021 album but also the biggest album of the last 2 years, which is factually wrong.

Flop after skinny  

A certain obsessed fan base tries to discredit IFPI but use chartmasters as a source.

 

I don't blame them it must be hard that the most successful album of their fave was blocked by princess Elsa.

And no one actually thinks 30 outsold SOUR. IFPI includes shipments like they always have

 

As far as what went wrong, I'd say EOM had something to do with it. Even though it was a big hit, there clearly seemed to be a loss of interest from streaming audiences in between its release and 30's
