Yes, it is coming! I'm still in awe just with the selection for the classics rate, whew.

I am most interested in Little Earthquakes and From the Choirgirl Hotel (both of which I did listen to yeeeeeaaaaars ago), as well as Scarlet's Walk, but do you think I should go in chronological order?

Oh, and the classics rate doesn't feature a lot of my favourite songs, so you're in for a treat.

I think chronological makes sense for any artist, but I never did it that way. I just went with whatever album's sound spoke to me in that moment. I definitely do think Little Earthquakes is the best starting point (with the b-sides), but it took a long time for Under the Pink to click so I just went to other albums first.

Miss @Florence Belch did her best with her song selection but it's really hard when your first five albums contain only classics

It's just a Reddit post but I'm hoping it's true. I was wondering how she'd handle the Neil situation when it came to her many references to him in her songs.

Also found the Your Cloud from the same date and WOW the background singers!!!

Going through the rate has made me accutely aware how much references to Neil and his work her discography has. Even Mary's Eyes mentions the Dream King … It must have been devastating for her (of course for the victims in the first place). And that rotten soul still refuses to take any accountability. I wonder if it'll pop up on the album.

Oh wow. I just listened to that version of Horses. Stunning, I hope she plays it at one of my shows. (Her look to the audience when she swapped out the Neil reference … oh she is pissed)

I was sure it would, but so far none of the press has made note of any reference which suggests there's no headline to exploit there. She says repeatedly in interviews that the characters are very real, it's just the dressing that is fantastical. Maybe it's too sensitive for her still, or it's wrapped up in so much metaphor nobody could clock it and she didn't mention it to anyone. I think it's weird nobody has asked though.

Watching night 2 videos now. I seriously think this tour is her most exciting since 2012 because of the backing singers. They're really shining new light onto the classics in

Although I have to say it's interesting that except for Witness, everything else so far had been performed on the OTO tour and mostly appeared on the Diving Deep Live releases.

Perched for Spring Haze, Give and Tear in Your Hand (maybe too much of Neil in this one so I'm not expecting it so soon). Really curious how they'll handle Blood Roses and The Waitress.

She could have lipped or continued struggling for another tour. This was an amazing decision.

I was legit struggling to decide which songs were about to get excluded, especially with Choirgirl, cause the whole album is incredible and BEGGING to get rated

People underestimate the spectacular album run she had back then, she was THE indie girl for a good reason

So I'm a new fan who discovered her music last year and I'm seeing her in Paris in two weeks! From what I understand, the setlist changes every night? Are there a couple of songs at least that are sure to make the setlist or will it be an entire surprise?

There's usually a few staples on each tour, mostly the beginning and endings, but to expect a song is also to set yourself up for disappointment. This tour the only songs she has played each night have been Shush and Big Wheel, I think. Oh and Crucify?

Enjoy the deep dive through her discography. A treasure trove!

Okay so here are some of my loosely organised thoughts on the show I saw last night in Bristol.

As excited as I was for Fire To Your Plain, Iieee is obviously the superior song and opener. I knew we were in for a great show, and the backing singers did an amazing job on this one. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Bliss. I absolutely love that song, but the live version from yesterday just did not work for me. Both Tori and her singers just refused to do the high note (the I've said it all part) and I thought what's the point of bringing the extra singers if they don't hit the notes Tori can't hit anymore? The song just fell apart for me because of that.

She sang 5 Scarlet's Walk songs, which I do appreciate as a SW lover but two of those being songs I don't care for as much. Vegas is cute, but I would've gladly taken anything from Scarlet's Hidden Treasures over it. Crazy, on the other hand...

One of my favs from Diving Deep, I was in heaven. I'll confess, I was not familiar with Honey at all and I had to google the song after the show. It was one of the highlights for me though, I was mesmerised from start to finish and was shocked to find out the song did not make the cut for UTP when it's easily better than at least half of the songs that did make it. Instantly a new favourite of mine

Song of Sorrow instrumental debut was cute, not much else to say about it. I'll wait for the whole album version. Before she sang Your Cloud she said the song was requested by a 14 year old girl in the audience and I thought, who requests Your Cloud when you could ask for anything? But I guess that is the beauty of being a Torinator, the fandom is very diverse in taste levels. The request probably came from an aging gay man pretending to be a little girl anyway, I was the youngest person in the room I could see lol.

Sweet Sangria, Bells For Her, Give - all great, no notes. A Sorta Fairytale is one of the greatest, most beautiful songs of all time and I feel blessed that I got to hear it live.

If I had to be critical, I would say that the show suffered from Tori's over-reliance on the band and the background singers. When I saw her in 2022, she did several songs on her own with just her pianos and those were lowkey the highlights, and it's where she's at her best. Yesterday it felt like she couldn't say a word without her band playing behind her, all we got was about 10 seconds during Crucify when all music and background singing stopped and it was just her singing and playing the piano. And the gag is... she actually sounded fine. She could've easily done at least 2-3 songs + a cover on her own, having to rehearse everything with her band means that she probably won't do any covers anymore, which is a shame.

Btw, my partner does not care for Tori at all and his favourite song was... Big Wheel A future GP classic I guess
