I feel like there's potential in Maids Of Elfen-Mere but it gets corny fast. A LOT of Unrepentant Geraldines feels like her first proper 'motherhood' album even though Tash was already 13 when she was making those songs. I have a sneaking suspicion they came to her earlier but obviously didn't fit the other albums, cause so much of UG feels like coping with menopause and also singing lullabies / children's book style imagery and narratives.

Giant's Rolling Pin & White Telephone To God are just embarrassing I'm sorry.

I adore the title track, but Tori singing about religion is catnip to me so.

Reindeer King, Up the Creek, Wildwood, Bang, Climb, Mary's Eyes ... so good (though the Diving Deep version of Climb has become the main version for me).

If you end the album at Beauty of Speed it comes in under one hour and is incredibly strong (except for Secret Spell and Programmable Soda)

Almost Rosey and after are not bad songs, and could exist on a bonus disc or something, but it gets exhausting after that.

Just a few tiny changes and maybe a different mix where the vocals aren't so far back and we wouldn't be talking about "Post Scarlet albums" the way we do.

Dark Side Of The Sun and Smokey Joe are better than everything between Boucing and Girl Disappearing though

I do agree with the general thesis though, there is definitely enough excellent material on ADP for it to be considered one of her great albums (if you ignore the filler)

The album desperately needs a remaster. It all sounds so annoyingly thin, which is a shame as I agree the highs are great. I have my issues with the production on nearly every Tori album since Scarlet, but I think it's most egregious on ADP, it's so compressed.

I've been going through bootleg recordings of her shows (there's a recording of nearly every gig she's ever done, it's insane) and it's mostly making me appreciate the songs on ADP much more.

(Also, the fact that her husband is sitting on professional recordings of all the shows she does is one of the reason I don't sleep well at night. Somebody crack the code to the vault)

Cruel is a fantastic opener and the rockier version with the electric guitar taking the lead is interesting.

I forgot she was doing the iconic remix of Professional Widow live (but as a rock version) and it's.. interesting. I like it.

Big Wheel is an absolute barn burner and the crowd sounds amazing lmao the stomping and clapping and then she lets them yell the "don't you forget!" during the bridge

Waitress is a bit of an anemic attempt compared to the 90s versions with that "hang ten" bridge falling flat

Sugar goes quite hard and sounds great.

Liquid Diamonds is one of her worst lives, I don't like the way she chose to sing it this time and the band sounds quite lifeless.

@HonourableVomit I cannot help you (yet): the goal is to compile my favourite version of each song but it's a gargantuan task. But the guy of yessaid does mark his favourites with a star, and I've found that the quality of those recordings is at least really good!

I've been listening to a few recordings of the Night of Hunters tour with the string quartet and I like those renditions. Something different.

I have learned on my bootleg journey that this is one of her best live songs ever, it completely shimmers compared to the studio version, even the ones with just her solo and the piano have me in TEARS

I need to relisten to UG too, although I don't think it'll change my opinion on most tracks. Native Invader and Acclaim To Acclaim are much more fun to revisit

also the Trouble's Lament MV... Tash saw Gaga's Telephone and wanted some of those nachos for Tori I know she doesn't have budget for videos these days but she could still do something simple yet classy, like PJ Harvey's music videos for Let England Shake. any kind of visual would be nice
