I've gone down a rabbit hole of reading MDNA reviews and

"Turn Up the Radio" recalls "Into the Groove" and "Open Your Heart" — the "kind of giddy, live-for-the-moment tune that made everyone fall for [Madonna] in the first place."

I'm finally doing a proper listen to her whole discography. So far I've listened to her debut, Like a Virgin, True Blue, and Like a Prayer. (Also not me just realizing how similar LAV / LAP titles are nnnn)

True Blue is def my fav! Like a Prayer was easily my least fav. 4th album curse was real even 40 years ago lol

If that song had been an 80s single no one would complain lol. As if Open Your Heart has much more thoughtful lyrics or something.

I've been listening to Madonna's discography over the last couple of days. I've never considered myself a stan, but I've always liked her. I think she's the only female artist who's consistently served me great music throughout my early life. She has so many songs that are tied to good memories and different moments in my early life.

I remember hearing Like a Prayer. I was still living in Kosovo back then. It was the first song of hers that really made an impression on me, and I loved it. It somehow even sparked my interest in religion. Not that I became devout, but the whole concept and the way it was used in the video intrigued my little gay ass. I'm atheistic as ****, but religion being used in this form somehow seemed interesting. Especially since I come from a very religious background, where this way of using religion is haram.

The next song that really impressed me was Secret. By then, I was living in the Netherlands. I was still struggling to adapt to my new environment, but some songs gave me comfort, and Secret was one of them. It always takes me back to that time. The depression from around that time seeps in when I listen to the song, but it's different now.

When Ray of Light came out, I had my first (secret) boyfriend. He was a huge Madonna fan, so we listened to the album all the time. People always talk about Frozen, but my favorite song was The Power of Good Bye.

Confessions on a Dance Floor completely gagged me. And then she kind of lost me. The last 20 years I've ignored her...

Listening to Confessions II, combined with my own history with her music, has made me appreciate both her and the album even more somehow. This woman is really special. People undermine what she had done to music and for us gays.
