All of the legends in her peer group (except Janet) had solo shows. Having dated acts like LMFAO, MIA, and Ceelo just distracted from her incredible catalog.

It's not a problem now as much, but it seems misogynistic that women weren't allowed to solo headline as often as the men (besides Diana Ross).

It was heavily praised and wowed millions of people. The media didn't have one bad thing to say about her performance and it was the first time ever that people tuned in to watch the halftime show over the actual game itself. She did fine, there was no "missed opportunity." Yes, the guests made the stage crowded but the setlist was appropriate and she had an extravagant show that raised the bar extra high for shows that followed her. She understood the assignment and did what she had to do in just 12 mins.

This is not true. I'm not trying to start a fight, but that happened with MJ's Super Bowl in 1993, almost 20 years earlier, not Madonna's.

Also, while the media didn't have a problem with her performance, there was a backlash when M.I.A. gave the middle finger during her part of the show.

I still think it would've been better if it was just her, but I respect everyone else's opinion here.

Vogue and half of Music is great but that's where I turn it off.

True, i don't think she treated it as some kind of event "for the ages", it was just a big billboard for her upcoming alberm and especially the tour. Big budget and all but in the grand scheme of things it's not even in her top 10 best live moments, it served a specific purpose put simple.
