Besides, let's be honest. Before the Joker trailer, Gaga's career in general was very quiet. I've stanned her since 2012 and I don't think I've ever been so bored as a stan. Even throughout her flop eras like Artdrop and ***canne there was always something semi-exciting going on. We saw how much ASIB revived her career in the eyes of the GP so the best strategy would be to wait in my opinion. The only exception would be if she had a The Fame Monster level of slay waiting to drop, but come on

Actress performances that are either getting buzz right now or have the potential to get buzz when they come out:

 

Angelina Jolie in Maria 

Saoirse Ronan in The Outrun 

Zendaya in Challengers 

Amy Adams in Nightbitch (the premise sounds asinine but Searchlight is giving the movie the same release slot they gave Poor Things last year, and 3 of the last four Best Actress winners were in Searchlight films. Add that to the fact that Amy Adams has one of the biggest overdue narratives. I'd actually say she's the biggest competition tbh) 

These are the ones I can think of. And what's going to realistically happen is that 1-2 (at least) of the Best Actress nominees in 2025 are going to be from films that we haven't heard about at all right now. 
 

The fact that Joker's probably going to be huge cultural event gives Gaga somewhat of an advantage at the Globes (known starfuckers) and SAG (pretty populist) that some of these other films probably won't have. Oscar nom. voting also opens 3 days after the Globes this time around too, so if Gaga snatches a win, that can really help her, especially on the preferential ballots.
 

Gaga's biggest advantage (besides her talent ofc) is that  every voter of every awards body is going to see Joker. Even though this shouldn't be the case, not all voters watch all the nominated films before voting (or at all). So voters might place her higher in preferential ballots because of this. Now Margot had this advantage with Barbie this past year, but I think Gaga's role will be much baitier (singing, choreography from different genres of dance, darker subject matter, descent into insanity, ect). But as we've seen these past few years, anything can happen.

TBH I didn't expect the trailer to blow up this big like now it seems really stupid to release something before the movie.

I mean true, nostalgia is a thing, but most of Artpop era happened in like 4 months, there was always something going on. For the entire beginning of her career in general - from 2009-2014 she went through 4 albums, 15 singles, 3 ww tours. The industry is different now and she's not only not an establishing artist anymore, but also has other interests alongside music so I'm not complaining, but to say her career is as eventful today as it was 10 years ago would be simply incorrect.

LG7 flopping would NOT affect Joker in any way, trust. It would just be bitter that her pop career is so in-the-back-seat these days, that even hype like this couldn't save it. Don't jump me, hope I'm proven wrong.

Releasing/not releasing music will have 0 effect on J.FAD's performance. She should release, though, because if she does flop, the narrative will be overwritten by Joker's success, and she has at least another shot afterward. If she waits until next year, the pressure will be bigger, and she'll have to stay away from movies for some time after what could potentially be a career-defining role.

Lead in May/June sounds possible. Album in October though? Potentially 6 months after the lead single? No way. This is not 2011. 

Yes to Gaga releasing music in between Joker wait, it will make the waiting for the movie bearable, plus new music is always a win!

And we all saw how Chromatica lowkey tanked after all that goodwill from ASIB. Sure Covid this, BLM that… the album would've persevered if 1. the music connected with the GP (obviously subjective) and 2. if she sustained the ASIB hype better by releasing sooner (an objective fact). 
 

Wasting JFAD as an opportunity to cross-promote LG7 would be the 2025 equivalent to her not having music out during the 2019 Met Gala; near global ubiquity with no music project receiving that halo effect.
