IMO, no one in the industry or the public is going to view her role as Harley as "supporting". She is the lead actress (do not let the trailer fool you). Category fraud like this would be met with intense backlash and would make her look very, very bad.

dddd I know it is easy to feel confident, but like, the near universal praise for the trailer is a big deal and sets our girl up for success. The movie is going to succeed in at least one way (commercial or critical) so we will win at the end of the day no matter what.

Her loss only helps her this time around. The Oscars are voted on by people in the industry, and those people love a good "comeback" narrative.

we know Gár won't have any issues hitting the precursors. If she could do it with the highly divisive Gucci she can do it again, if Joker is well-received. For her to score another nom, she only needs Joker 2 to be more liked by AMPAS than HOG, which seems likely to me. she definitely had enough votes to get nominated under a flat voting system. But w the preferential method, it was the lack of passion for Gucci that hurt her and the egregious campaign.

The teaser did give off "stand there and look sexy miss Ga" (which they probably intended and worked in appeasing the male audience). But she definitely has a bigger role than perceived in the trailer and a $12M salary for a supporting role wouldn't make sense.

In WHAT world do you think GÁR will be a supporting actress in JFAD? The movie title is literally 'Madness of Two’… 

 

This base truly has a delusion fetish. If it's not expressed via countdowns, it is in another way without fail.

There is no way they could sneak her into Supporting Actress even if they wanted to.  

 

I'd rather she lost Best Actress than disrespect her contribution to this movie by short-changing herself to win Supporting Actress.

Why? 

FYC/campaigning are always suggestions. When it comes to the Oscars, it's the actors branch who determines en mass where an actor ends up. If she were to campaign for supporting, and in the event that didn't piss voters off, she'd be nominated for lead if more voters voted for her there than supporting. The opposite happened a few years ago with LaKieth Stanfield when he was campaigned for lead and ended up in supporting alongside his co-star (which lowkey meant more people in that branch thought there was no lead for that movie dd).

I remember she was supposed to be supporting in Bullet Train, but then the pandemic + scheduling conflicts with HoG's filming caused that to fall through. I would love if she took a small supporting role in a Christopher Nolan film since it would be great publicity, a small time commitment, and the best we could hope for from that man since he really can't write good female roles at all. 

Lets get one thing straight, miss gaga is not a supporting kind of girl, she is going for lead actress. Once she bags that then maybe she can work on the supporting trophy
