Some interesting developments in UMG vs. TikTok.

 

UMG is definitely not getting back on TikTok anytime soon. TikTok isn't a big part of its business at all and their earnings are doing well. In fact, the music industry is doing well. TikTok may have an influence when it comes to music discovery, but it's another story when it comes to consumption.

 

Another interesting thing is that 40% of TikTok users are aged over 25, so it's not the youth-centered app it used to be. Whether one argues TikTok is important in an artist's marketing mix, UMG is clearly not going to prioritize when it comes to future campaigns like LG7.

It's not Blade's fault. Even if he hadn't told us anything back in November, we would have had plenty of elements for thinking something was coming considering how she's acting.
