Lady Gaga's debut was the biggest since Britney's. That's why the comparisons were there. Britney shattered records in 1999, Gaga in 2009. It's why they saw Gaga as a threat.

Nothing is more hateful than MDNA stans, Kitkats are close but they're likely more delusional and thinks TD is bigger than any Gaga's era. Plus their fave have become a laughingstock online which explains why they're so defensive and aggressive.

It's funny how MDNA stans are getting along with KitKats, especially since Katy once shaded MDNA by saying, "She is the next Madonna but better" I don't see MDNA stans upset about that, Imagine if it was the other way round  They're using Katy as a token stan to drag Gaga. From the start of her career, Gaga has only admired MDNA as one of her inspiration, even crediting her in The Fame booklet. She's getting acclaimed and achieving things MDNA has been trying for years to accomplish. Gaga did it effortlessly, thanks to her talent alone. 

The same could be said about Britney's fans. During the Witness era, Katy threw shade at Britney saying something like "At least I haven't shaved my head yet"  yet they don't seem upset about it, but they hate Gaga for no reason. The fact that Britney and Gaga have shown love to each other. 

This can only mean one thing: MDNA & Britney fans feel soooo threatened by Gaga.

The Madonna, Britney, and Katy stanning OGHs on here don't seem to understand that by hiding behind the new pop girl of the moment to drag Gaga, they're admitting that they don't think their real fave can compete. This gives them such an inferiority complex and being reminded of it causes them to lash out. That's why when you bring up their real fave they either shut up or get really mad. 
 

I know that 2025 in particular has been maddening for all three groups. The M-stanning OGHs hate that Ga's Copacabana set was much larger than last year's. Gaga surpassing Britney's Hot 100 and Billboard 200 #1 counts this year (6 vs 5 for singles and 7 vs 6 for albums) probably also set some of them off, as did the fact that Gaga's outlasted Britney in general. And I don't think I need to explain why Katy-stanning OGHs would be fuming at Gaga's 2025  

 

Long story short, they'll hide behind Tate or Sabrina now, just as they did with Dua a few years ago, and they'll pick someone else in a few years. But Gaga will remain a legend with a remembered catalogue regardless.

How many streams did this song get this year? It has to be finishing the year with like 500 million streams just from 2025 alone  

 

It's crazy how weak the charts are right now, the first two full weeks for Abra (#13 with 166 points / #33 with 100 points) would've been enough for a top 5 peak + second week in the top 15 now, even with Taylor in there. Just to put into perspective how unlucky she was by releasing at the busiest time of recent years with Kendrick's SB boost + Drake album bomb.

 

Plus: Disease had 113 points in its first week at #27 which would be enough for top 10 now.  

 

Mayhem having only one top 10 hit was just terrible timing, I want her to get lucky with a new release for once and snatch one of those super weak periods.

It got 414,875,231 streams in 2025 so far. It'll probably end the year at 1.972-1.995 billion streams.
