In her leaked documents with Interscope it was shown that Gaga's old contract did not give her a lot of money for streams, it was more focused on sales. Joanne was created to target an older audience that still purchased music 

 

After Joanne, Gaga signed a new contract that had a bigger emphasis on streaming. The Cure was meant to test out streaming playlists for her. 
The ASIB (OST) became a massive modern hit and her streaming numbers sky rocketed

I've never understood why some Liddos want her to make "ReLaTaBle" music than panders to vanilla audiences when Gaga blew up for being WEIRD.  Mayhem smashed because it was true to her weird core, not in spite of it.

 

In fact, I'd personally love for her future studio albums to double down on her weirdness. No whisper vocals, no snooze productions, no singing without enunciation, no polished pretty girl looks.
