idk what is it with the Hive and why many of you have been so strange about the CC era...from the obsession with skipping to Act 3 quickly, not thinking CC deserves its own tour, and now it shouldn't be immortalized with its own official tour film?? but its weird.

 

reminder...this is Beyonce's AOTY...a groundbreaking, milestone album & achievement she's wanted her whole career. it deserves to be upheld & commemorated for everything its worth. its not a placeholder album or era.

 

 

I hear you. But...

 

Granted, Bey isn't reinventing her own wheel (having consistently churned out visual albums and tour docs), it's crystal clear that the stakes are higher, the importance is elevated, and her creative intentionality is becoming more and more nuanced. 

 

With that, I don't want her to do a tour movie...just for the sake of it. IMO, when in such close proximity to the last tour film, it dilutes the special attraction aspect of it all. Realistically, too, how different do we expect it to be from the RWT? From the storyboarding to the literal look and finish etc?

 

From a marketing standpoint too, I think it's important to put the stan goggles on the dresser. Even if just briefly. As a stan, I'd take yearly Beyonce docs, visuals, etc. But the reality of the matter is that each "samey" thing cannibalizes the mass interest in the next...thing. Especially when placed relatively close together. Even Marvel franchises know to avoid the back-to-back drops.

 

Also...I actually don't have a gripe with the CC era. I just think the timeline is not ideal. 

 

Throwing her a bone, I don't think the original plan was to stretch the album out so long with nothing happening alongside it. I 200% believe The Sphere residency was meant to happen last year, and they had to pivot to this tour when it fell through. Because stadiums are booked far into the future, I'd bet that The Sphere falling through when it did essentially meant the only available frame to tour stadiums globally was way-way ahead (aka now). 

 

Whatever the case, my issue is that we are now extending a successful era that I feel reached its natural and respectable end last year. Realistically, Christmas Day Halftime could have seen her wrap a bow on CC and use that lil post-performance tease to punch on to Act III. 

 

For me, it's less about rushing to Act III, but just reading the room and more organically going with the flow of GP temparature. ATM, as someone who has seen the tour twice (and loved it), I still feel she's essentially packing these stadiums on the merit of her name (which is a flex in and of itself). If it were the material (or the promotion of it via the tour), we'd see a higher uptick in streams for the record. 

 

Saying all of this, I really respect her commitment to doubling down on riding CC out this long. Whether intentionally or more so reactively to ish outside of her direct control.

 

We can't change how things have panned out, nor would I want to. Equally, I don't think there is anything wrong at all with some fans not being as invested in CC and being ready for her to move on to the next thing. It's all...ok.

But, with a superstar like Bey, who is a business and positions herself as a luxe offering, it's clear there are so many components at play that she and her team unquestionably have to consider (and already are).

Finally she writes a damn post on her Instagram. She loves her some Paul McCartney. She wore his daughter's design tonight.

like, the RWT movie did extremely well, was #1 at box office and broke a record for post-thanksgiving weekend, and ended up as the 5th biggest music concert movie of all-time.

Sidebar: Saw the show again tonight. She really did that. 

 

Having seen the first and last of the London run, she absolutely put a little extra umph into the latter shows. It's so subtle, yet tangible and yet hard to explain, but Sasha was in full effect throughout.
 

As someone who has moaned a lil about her pulling back on choreo, her committing to the Sasha character from top to bottom of these latest shows means it's a fair trade-off. Because there is so much swagger, sass, and improvised isms/movement that make it impossible to bemoan anything about dancing specifically.

 

Anyone's guess if it's being filmed for anything, but it should be. It really was giving "the definitive base show to build a special around". Very much a "we're filming Kansas for the RWT movie so lemme dial it ahp" tea.

 

There are select cities I really feel Bey shows up and, dare I say, shows off for lol. London, NYC, Paris, Houston, ATL, and LA (typically, but not this tour lol. Still, I digress).

 

Amazing show.

I'm not opposed to footage from the tour being showcased in some kind of way, but I do have some reservations I believe are valid: 

 

• If the footage will be produced, tracked & edited in same fashion of RWT, IASF & HOMECOMING- keep it. This method of editing has ran its course, and as ppl have endlessly stated, lowered the viewing pleasure of the film by constantly interrupting performances with documentary material. I think the documentary pieces are some of the most beautiful footage, as she pours out (as much as she's willing) her heart and it translates better than decoding lyrics, but I would love for it to be separate from the actual concert footage. 

 

• The constant filtering in different clips from multiple shows, showcasing multiple looks between one performance is a headache. I think she was trying to make sure ppl got a chance to look at the many looks from each show, but girl- even the hive is over this. The looks are easily available on your website, instagram, X, google- ENOUGH! Focus on showcasing the best possible performance, even if it's two or three performances combined, thread them together seamlessly, not as if they're jump scares. 

 

• The film doesn't need to be released in theaters, but on streaming, even if for only a limited. "BEYONCÉ BOWL" has proved that her live performances being readily available at ease is just a powerful as in theaters or touring. Netflix, unfortunately, has adapted to tiering its content, take advantage of that. Tyler Perry is one of the few black mega stars that have used Netflix to his advantage without compromising his creative freedom, but still maximizing on the access of streaming. She could enjoy the same pleasantries on a much larger scale, easily. 

 

While she's not tasked with creating a new lane, or reimagining one, she definitely needs to offer something different than her last few concert films if she's planning on to release something for CCT. One thing that's made "The Beyoncé Experience", "Live in Atlantic City", with its horrid dissolving of some of the best performances, and even "Made in America 2015" or Coachella livestream footage enjoyable is simply the show. That's it. Nothing special. 

 

It doesn't even need to be as promoted as RWT, just slap the concert on Netflix and move on. 

I agree that her best concert films are the simplest, with only one or two shows used
