She needs to drop these movies. Going forward, just pick 4 singles and make long form videos like MJ did. I don't need videos for every song anymore. I'm hoping we still get REN and CC movies, but I hate how she has handled these eras. She is lucky she has fans left tbh

I completely agree.

And I think she'll eventually get there. For the simple fact that her own innovativeness will eventually box her in. She's been loud about never wanting to repeat herself or become predictable.

All signs point to the trilogy film being the biggest venture yet (and even then that's arguably reheated nachos of her tried and true "visual album" format).

By her own logic, it's getting to a point where the next "edgy, cool, left" thing to do would be to drive in a completely different direction. And it can't even be the "no visual" thing because she's kinda-sorta exhausted that party-trick too.

Given that she/Netflix rolled out Beyonce Bowl as a standalone 15-minute "show" on Netflix, it leads me to believe there's scope for her to go the "short-film route". Maybe even something Black Mirror esque with interactive options to "choose your path". That'd be way easier to execute with a short film comprised of 4-5 videos than a full-length movie. Beyond it being less labor intensive to create, she'd still be eligible for all the awards her long-form ish is always submitted for. So, there are benefits across the board.

But yeah, after the trilogy film, it's time to bench the "visual albums" if a) it's not significantly different enough to previous "movies" (so not just a collection of amazing videos) and b) if it can't be executed in a project-beneficial timeline.

I understand that rock is basically confirmed at this point but her finishing the trilogy with a full R&B and Soul record as the last true reclamation would be truly brilliant.

She doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. Cinema as an art form has existed for over a century and you don't see directors worried about having to create a new experience or having choose your own adventure films. Nobody is revisiting that Black Mirror episode after the fact because those type of tricks get old even faster.

She just needs to stick to what she thinks best represents her art. If it's a movie then let it be a movie, if it's only one video then let it be one video. You all get too worried about things not reaching a bigger audience or getting old quickly when this woman could retire right now and still have an unmatchable legacy. :rip:

PREACH.

And I am so glad Bey does't listen to us and lets her artistic intention and vision guide her decisions (for the most part).

                                                                               :WAP:

It really is funny that Beyonce could literally be named the greatest popstar of our time, have confirmed sales that are only behind Rihanna, Win AOTY, a hugely successful half-time Netflix special and is ready to go on the biggest tour of her career AGAIN - and the Hive will be in here complaining because she isn't as high as Tate McCrea on Spotify.

We really are a spoilt bunch.

Art book this, art book that. Did anybody in here actually even order one? :deadbanana2:

:jonny: Next month she'll be back on tour. NOBODY is doing it on this level, and it's almost unprecedented how both the artistic and performing primes happen at the same time, so let's enjoy while we can.

The main issue with "BLACK IS KING" was that the film came 377 days after the album, which was only a passion project for a film ppl hated. It wasn't that the actual film or album was bad.

It was to the point the artist featured in the film and album were talking about the videos in their respective interviews. The films life span only lasted to November, not even a full six months, but for what it was and the platform it was on being less than a year old, it was a phenomenal project and it's lackluster response was warranted. I mean, the lead single and videos to go by were "Spirit" and "Bigger". . . From literally a year earlier, yet ppl are still raving about the videos for "Find Your Way Back", "Already" and "Mood 4 Eva" till this day, instead of the actual film.

Saying all of that, whatever visuals and their release strategy she has up her sleeves are going to face an even worse fate and we've come to accept that, and be at peace with it. The point that ppl are only pinpointing 3 direct videos from a film they can't remember proves @Shelter and @Cbreezy point that she needs to refocus her visual direction or look into short films or stand alone videos.

She's been filming 3 films since 2021, and knowing her, her only release strategy is to sell the licensing to Netflix and call it a day. And that's if she and her team aren't dumb enough to sell only "COWBOY CARTER" film or visuals and create a 'Where's Waldo" mayhem series. She's proven she doesn't really to do anything outside of record music, film video and tour, so why are we prolonging the only crumbs she has to offer. She's proven she could easily wrap this in 6-8 months with "LEMONADE".

Love Bey by sheer virtue of how hard she works/willing she is to innovate, but this is a total chop. Her core fans don't want that contrived, gimmicky bullshit. We just want good visuals, amazing choreography, nice outfits, and maybe a 'story' if the song calls for it.

Agree with benching visual albums. It's played out atp and I'd much rather have 4-5 videos per era released in a timely fashion.

The Cowboy Carter vinyl scam should have been the end of the myth that "Bey sticks to a plan"

She doesn't and it's not necessarily a bad thing

I don't know if I believe it's going to work, but I'm choosing to have faith in whatever plan she has for the visuals.  If it's just a 3 hour long form video, it was never worth all this.  She could've dropped them one by one with their respective albums.

But surely that's not what it'll be.
