I stan a whole string of flops so there's nothing Beyonce fans need to worry about lmao. Cowboy Carter is an incredible album and her voice has NEVER sounded more beautiful than it does on this album. Also the Beyonce Bowl show was LEGENDARIC! The era has truly won me over and I will be hyped hyped hyped for whatever she does next. I wish she'd expand this damn CC Tour to be a bit more global but alas, I will be watching a recording at the very least.

Btw the reason why Cowboy Carter didn't perform to anyone's standards is because she basically did no promotion for it.

 

All she did was a lead single which had no music video.

 

She did like one interview and did no public appearances.

 

What did you expect?

 

I still think it's impressive she did at least 1.6 million units in the U.S. though which is more than we can say for other certain popstars.

GAG IT. Because the way CC could've been HUUGGEE if she just promo'ed and released visuals. Guarantee it would've spawned a couple more #1s and some top 10s if she played her cards right. 

Visting here after a while and have a few things to say

 

1. I'm excited for the tour, I bet the choreography is finalised by now and it feels exciting to think about. I am bummed that I am not in Paris like last time and can't attend this tour - however I am looking forward to that old feeling of waiting for fan uploads and seeing the production and different angles. It has its own charm. 

 

2. Some of the takes in here about CC's success and the state of B's career are silly. I fear some of you/us create analysis about her and the state of her career and success based on half truths (not the complete picture) and whatever it may be evoking within us that day. An accurate analysis would require time and space and is a combination of many factors. So I am not going to do it here because I think our 'boredom' with her doing very little leads us to constantly speculate and dissect the same thing and we both overthink it and under-nuance it at the same time. 

 

3. I have been thinking lately about how my personal Beyoncé experience feels a little hollow without her doing live televised performances of individual songs. For me, one of the most exciting and epic parts of B was how she would perform her songs on stage - and I mean individual songs. When her task is to deliver a particular song live, she goes insane and totally embodies the feeling, emotion, performance, production, live arrangement and more. Beyoncé Bowl doesn't fully count because it was a medley situation. My most favourite part was Texas Hold 'em and that was the one song she did fully. I miss that. It is what makes me excited for the tour too but I will note that for tours, you cannot go as all out as she did for live televised shows or special festivals (because it usually requires going all out and on tour that will put a major toll on her voice and performance). Oh to witness Ya Ya and AR live in an all out festival setting (glastonbury) or to set the Shammy's stage on fire (IIWAB style). 

I do note tho how the industry has changed and I support her not showing out for these effeers for free like before. Its not the same landscape

This. She has two back-to-back #1 singles because they were treated as singles. Cuff It and II Most Wanted were technically released as singles and their streams reflect that. Even 16 Carriages is high on Apple Music - released as a single. If she wanted more hits, she could get them.

 

Which is why we keep asking Columbia to cut Yvette's data plan and send Bodyguard to radio right ******* now

One thing I will say is that with the new wave of pop girls like Chappell and Sabrina I think the tides are turning and live performances are having their own renaissance. I'm hoping she might finally return to them, but to be totally honest I think it's an image preservation thing. She's so big now that one live mistake or error could be costly to her brand. The bigger you are, the more people wanna see you flop.

It's not too late for a Bodyguard push at all but if they didn't push it when she dropped Beywatch then they never will (besides, the low views on that visual on youtube have cemented Bodyguard as a fan fav chart flop)

It isn't, but at this point, it would need a good push or a remix as the newness has worn off.  IMO, it's the most single friendly song on the entire album, especially on a global level, more so than THE.  Hopefully it gets a good moment on tour, like Heated did, it deserves it.

I think it has more to do with exclusivity, to be honest. A Beyoncé live experience being a rarity, something unique you must witness when she goes out of her home --> higher demand and prices. Someone like TS seems to be doing the same.

Apparently according to ATRL experts, those two are front loaded flops.

 

I don't think any of the singles would smash at this stage, but as with Renaissance, the tour should breathe new life into the era. 

 

At the very least we need the gp to positively associate CC with something. A successful tour with lots of viral clips is our best bet.

Agreed! We need that one viral clip thats so bold and in your face that there's no denying in CC quality
