  • It was the best concert of my life, bar none. Idc!    It was extraordinary, it was ineffable.  I knew I loved it based on the videos but I... Hey I don't know.    Best moment

I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

Guys! I saw the movie AND Bey in person yesterday! A friend of a friend of a friend, who I can't thank enough!

They took the phones away. But she gave about a minute intro. Gagged when she came out as she seemingly didn't for the LA premiere. Also saw Taylor Swift. All pretty casual and surreal at the same time lol.

I see much of tea has been split/discussed about My House etc, so will just say...go see the film!

As a lover of her BTS moments and docs, there was a lot more on offer in that regard than we've had in a while. It's not fly-on-the-wall per se and there's a clear set of throughline themes she sticks too, but there's more than I was expecting.

Won't spoil too much, but I think paying attention to a lot of her wording and articulation of her headspace kind of makes clear what this chapter of Bey's journey will be moving forward. From her performance style to her release frequency.

Um I think this gon need a few plays to grow on me

:suburban:

You won't get My House on the  first listen

Wow  what a grower already

My House made me go back to streaming Delresto a couple of times. It kinda slaps

And who the hell described My House as similar to AHAP, it's not even close

let me guess obscure, promo-less and infrequent releases ? :deadvision:

Ugh I'm so here for the live album next. I'm here for Renaissance to dominate yet another year  for me.

Such a special album in our lifetimes :weeps:

i love it - the first half just clicked after i waked n baked yes yes yes pls bey act II :monkey:

Still on a high from seeing the film last night. It was everything I expected and more. Her best film to date. Definitely left feeling proud and empowered.

"I’m pretty sure there was a sticky note that said “THERE WILL BE NO FILM, THE VISUAL IS IN MY HEAD.”

i mean she most likely ignores the visuals in the film for a more dramatic / surprise element but yeah they are SO scrapped, er should all hang it up :rip:

When I saw the sticky note, I immediately thought the visuals didn’t turn out the way she envisioned and she scrapped.

or she could be referring to the tour interludes. “Stepping into mothers mind”

So do we tack on the song at the end of Renaissance or what? What's the consensus? Good bookend to the album or unworthy?

I have added it to a separate playlist with Cuff It (Wetter Remix), The Queens Remix, AHAP Remix and Delresto. Renaissance is too perfect to add anything to it

Yea I thought this was about the visuals too. It’s clear she didn’t think the visuals were good enough to match the song and that’s understandable. This era is all about freedom and liberation and she probably just didn’t feel like she could easily capture that feeling in music videos

I’m still so scalped at this film. The impeccable editjng, her being the greatest performer in pop history, the candid moments and stories, the behind the scenes segments. This is her best film by miles

If so, she still could release some standalone videos for fans. Maybe they do not stick up together but for sure she could edit some nice music video or two

yeah she was definitely unhappy with something but i just can’t wrap my head around how they could be SO awful there’s nothing savable in there…

there’s not even 10 minutes that could be recycled for a cute music video or two ? were they THAT uninteresting / bad ? :rip:

how could they be so unsatisfying that even reshooting the whole thing and editing it for another year couldn’t save them…

i think they were perfect and in usual post-ST Bey fashion a little too artsy/dark/experimental/uncommercial which would be great for us but not so much for the streamers, so after they told her NO it was most likely a kick to her self esteem & creative spirit (and her big ego :gaycat1:) so she just scrapped the whole thing… idk

RIP visuals, you were the mother i never had, the sister everybody would want, the friend everybody deserves

Yeah it's so bizarre to me as well that she would be so unhappy with it to scrap the entire thing because the booklet (which we know is from the movie) is by far the best visual representation she's ever done for an album. The fashions, the looks, the sets, the lightning are all stunning and create a marvelous ambiance for the music that's on the record.

And then there’s the description of it being “A hard rappy/rocky and then a kind of Michael Jackson vibe” from someone who had the song recorded and could listen to it more than once. Like… how? :katie:

It’s a bit weird because first half is a bit like Black Parade instrumentally with a chant delivery like the “suck on my balls” from Homecoming and there’s also the I Been On voice making an appearance. And then there’s the second half which is more ballroom-y but dark, and then she goes into MC mode and drops her own “If you can't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” moment. And then there’s a choir moment. It’s too much to take into, and the production is deeply layered too.  It does feel like closure for the era.

I love how Bey has her own trademark style despite the fact she has explored so many genres in her career: the brass, danceable beat, electric energy, stacked harmonies etc.

The film was even better than I expected

i loved how the camera focused on screens showing the quick headshot montage from the ITG teaser just before AUIYM. time for her to DROP THE VISUALS
