I know this award is a joke but the point is, she has cemented herself in history with the likes of Whitney and Lauryn. And on top of that she won an award for a genre that completely ridiculed and ex

Everytime I remember how bad the music in TLK was... I get mad again.

And tbh not even Can You Feel the Love Tonight (the only song with Beyoncé in it) is good. If I'm honest I don't even love the way Beyoncé chose to sing it, but give her the excuse that maybe she was trying to tone it down for Disney and Donald?

Why they never got Beyoncé, an actual visionary, to handle the production of the album vs. brining on Pharrell who hasn't really made anything groundbreaking since the 2000s in whatever attempt to make some Happy/kids-bopz version of the amazing original soundtrack is beyond me. And then that ugly Elton song at the end that (likely) kicked Spirit out of that spot, leading it to be hastily and poorly edited and chopped to fit into a Simba-runs-home scene?

couldn’t find supplies for my original costume idea during my T*rget run this afternoon and now i am tempted to try and find a way to do something Bey-related for a party on saturday

for context no one asked for, i was gonna go as a piñata but somehow those hoes were completely out of streamers??? and regular gift tissue is too much of a hassle compared to something that already comes in a roll

she really said in DELRESTRO to ignore the dress code, just for her to be having dress codes left and right :psyduck:

if she really scrapped them and doesn’t even give us a single music video that would be pure insanity

not liking them and changing your mind sure you do you but not liking at least 2-3 mvs enough to let us see them ? or shooting one over the last year and releasing it ? but then again making us wait 2 years for a music video is ALSO  insane :mazen:

i can’t find a logical way for her to spin this whole visuals thing without it looking insane like :deadbanana:

Maybe the visuals are meant to be for acts i and ii or all three of them and that’s why she’s using Renaissance Film for this. :michael:

Pharrell not doing anything good since the 2000s is… an opinion.

Bey’s Blow, Superpower, Water and Apeshit, Frank’s Sweet Life and Pink + White, Solange’s Junie, Almeda and Sound of Rain, Ariana’s sweetener album, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky and Lose Yourself to Dance, SZA’s Supermodel, Love Language and Hit Different, KENDRICK’S ALRIGHT.

Bey can be many things. A better producer than Pharrell is absolutely not one of them. :rip:

I would have preferred Pathé Gaumont because we have a card there but Rex is also great. I can't wait. Only 2 nights though, I hope it will not be too difficult to get my ticket.

I honestly think the whole handling of that plus The Gift is the reason she basically didnt do any promo for the movie. Homegirl was PISSED

I strongly feel that Billboard needs to change its rules regarding streaming videos.

IF a music video counts as a music stream, THEN it must be said that visual album views hosted on streaming services should count as a music stream as well, for there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between a music video and a visual album but for length. Since a visual album is not a musical and it is not a film with a soundtrack that viewers passively hear and it is an ACTIVE choice to LISTEN to an artist's music through electing to watch its visuals, it's literally the exact same thing as watching a music video.

I know that because there are not as many people making visual albums as Beyoncé, Billboard won't do this anytime soon because there's no real need for such a rule, but I do think its interesting to point out how Beyonce's streams (at least on debut week for Black is King and Homecoming) would likely be significantly higher had this been a rule. Because literally, if she had just split the entire visual album up into song segments and added it to YouTube, they'd count. But because it's on Netflix or Disney+ (both streaming services), it doesn't.

PLUS, we clearly know every streaming service knows what we watch and how long. The very fact that you can resume where you left off tells us this, so there's no way to excuse this by saying "how would we know which songs people actually listened to?". You can know.

this might also have to do with streaming services not wanting to disclose their specific numbers to Billboard for this purpose. they didn't even count iTunes music video downloads iirc, when those were a thing.

I didn't say he hasn't made anything good. I said he hasn't made anything groundbreaking. And a lot of what you listed are great tracks, but I don't think they're groundbreaking. The ones that are closet to breaking some ground relied more on the style of the artist he worked with than his own.

I also didn't mean Beyoncé herself should have produced the soundtrack, but more like its executive producer with co-production too, the vision for it. We've seen on The Gift she clearly had a vision. The soundtrack either needed to be truer to the feeling the original gave, but like, HEIGHTENED...or had a different spin that made it unique to this film. Instead it was just rather bland.

Anyway I would love to hear her cover Can You Feel The Love Tonight live... I wonder if she ever will perform a The Lion King song on stage, actually.

I'm still unsure as to why we didn't get a Beyonce cover of "Shadowland" on the film soundtrack, even as a bonus track. They really missed out.

So we get a dress code and no visuals? Manifesting a rotten score on rottentomatoes and a $20 million total box office gross

It's only gotten worse, she used to be a better performer when she was the black lady gargoyle.

"HEY"

You’re such a hater if you don’t like her version of Can You Feel the Love Tonight

Imagine if our fave had to rerecord albums. It’d be such a chore doing all the vocal layering and harmonies she does. Much easier to do when you put minimal effort into your vocals like that lady. So simple sounding so empty.

Good news, my Saturday showing sold 5 new seats. The promo is working :clap3:
