Honestly, whereas I do believe she will be releasing some form of visual representation for the era, she isn’t obligated too.

We just became too complacent because we’ve had two prior visual albums and she’s regularly released music videos throughout and during every era before.

That said, Drake didn’t release a single music video during the “VIEWS” era - nothing for ‘One Dance, Controlla, Too Good, Pop Style’ - and the album still SMASHED and the aforementioned songs were all hits. (‘Hotline Bling’ had a video but was never initially a part of the “VIEWS” era). He said himself he didn’t film videos because he “didn’t feel like it”. :rip:

She might be following suit this era too. Perhaps she wanted to let Streaming and TikTok do the talking.

Interesting!

See, this is why I think it's sometimes best for us to hold the fort before melting down or speculating the absolute worst.

As someone who is really interested in the "industry" side of the business, it's very very possible Sony required a Q3 release from Bey to meet certain company-wide targets. So much so that Ren essentially "had" to come out when it did, whether the visuals were ready or not.

Bey is big but she's not bigger than the business and, with there only being a handful of megastars left, I can see a scenario where labels give their top acts the freedom to create and take time, but at points may require releases (regardless of the broader variables, in this case visuals). The compromise being that they'll support it heavily. Which is what Columbia has done (particularly when it comes to playlisting and radio).

Whatever the case, this is yet more confirmation that even at a corporate level, the album is doing delivering.

However, if that’s also the case, why do you think she announced the album so early in advance?

I’m not saying that you’re saying she was forced to release it, but perhaps she did just want to do a traditional release with no immediate visuals.

Either way, the album is a HIT

Hehe I know you weren’t, I’m just poking.

All I wanna know is….WHY!

Why did they delay the visuals and what is her excuse for not communicating to the fans about what’s currently happening. That teaser dropping in August made us all think that they were gonna be released soon and then we got crickets for months.

All of us would have been way more nicer if she never dropped that teaser in the first place but released a clear statement about visuals coming eventually.

AND WHY DID THEY NOT DROP MV’s for atleast the singles in the meantime… :skull:

a time window for us to anticipate them would’ve been even better even if it’s far away

If it was the case, I think it's plausible they've known for a while that the visual (and whatever deal she was scouting for em) would not meet a Q3 release deadline. So they would have worked to that understanding.

She absolutely needed the vinyls, merch boxes, and a generally strong push with traditional units (as her streaming gravitas was untested at that point). All of that requires a preorder window. So, that's why they'd announce so far ahead IMO. Not because they assumed the visuals would be done by July 29th. If it was ready, then it'd be icing on the cake. But the fact we saw her shooting so close to release (which we were initially in such disbelief about) intimates that it wasn't some kind of shock to those working the project (Columbia etc) that the visuals were for sure coming later and the focus in the immediate launch window would be the music.

Also, on a random but related note, do y'all remember that member who posted tea about Ren actually supposed to have come last out year Sept (around her 40th birthday) but that's when the plan shifted to this three act project? They mentioned that the switch came in like July/August '21, meaning even back then the album was set to drop without visuals ready.

I don't like that we don't have visuals yet and it's very much new terrain for me as a longtime fan. But it really does seem like leading with the music was baked into their plan for B7 the whole time. The wait may be longer and they are probably taking creative license to pivot (and pivot and pivot) on the back of us not know what the original plan was, but yeah...it seems to be part of the plan.

Sure but Bey doesn't even have a fraction of Drake's streaming and radio domination :rip: For someone like Bey who has made the visual component such a huge part of her art, it's very critical to her drawing power/commercial success. The SPS from video streams alone would help stabilize the album in the Top 5.

Honestly, assuming she actually has recorded three albums, I’m not surprised that the visuals weren’t ready in July. People always say “it’s been 6 years since Lemonade,” but really it’s only been two years since her last major project. She had her tour, Everything is Love, The Gift, and then Black is King in 2020. She’s also a mom, and, not to be ageist, but even if you’re at peak physical health, your body can’t go as hard at age 40 than it can in your 20s and 30s. You just need more down time.

Granted, there’s undoubtedly more truth in the notion often spread by haters that Bey’s music has so many collaborators and different pieces to it that she can probably get away with doing less actual creative thinking (writing, composition, hands-on producing, etc) than us stans like to admit. But I also don’t doubt that she’s really involved in her music and spends a lot of time - if not writing or creating it herself - then at least conceptualizing it, telling producers what she wants, saying yes or no and making tweaks along the way. She’s still the creative genius behind it all  She said she started writing “during the pandemic,” so if she’s really been able to create 3 albums in two years, I’m not mad that the visuals aren’t ready yet. It’s not realistic they would be.

I guess the question is, would y’all rather her wait to drop Renny until, let’s say Spring 2023, with the visuals and still be waiting for an album, or be happy we got it now?

Personally, I think it’s her best album and probably my favorite album since 2015. I’m glad just to have the music, and I recognize that Bey isn’t superhuman.

I'm not convinced the delay didn't come because they needed some budget from the album for the the project, and this was the plan all along.

i'm sure she's involved heavily in album making but idgaf about samples or writers...this album is fireeee as in every evening I hear a different layer of production. AHAP scalps me every time

Must be annoying for stans but I'm genuinely so happy with the album it's a sonic masterpiece

Definitely.

The teaser is the one thing that makes clear that something went wrong behind the scenes. It randomly being dropped and then nothing is the ultimate tell-tale sign.

At the same time, we are all well-versed in the fact that Bey's brand is "perfection" so it's always confused me when I see fans say "well, maybe if she'd just tell us what is going on or update us". I understand the sentiment, but it's just not how this ish works. Bey will never sit in front of a camera or keyboard and tell us "hey guys! i hated half the videos we shot, so we're reshooting for a month. See you at Thanksgiving xo".

Things go wrong BTS all the time, but acts of Bey's level are more likely to tell us about it in a doc they've been paid big bucks for and when said visuals are done, released, and being praised than anytime before.

As for the single videos, the superstar girls are into their big reveals. New looks, choreo, wigs, even new bodies sometimes lol. It's a "thing". Bey has been about "all at once" consumption for over a decade. So, much as her dropping the BMS and now CI videos ahead of the visual album, it's actually on-brand and routine practice for to not.

Let’s not delude ourselves now…

What’s happening here is completely new even for her standards cause Lemonade and The Gift both had music video’s dropped a while before the whole visual project got released. There is no excuse for what happened in these last months sorry :skull:

And still the kicker to ALL THIS bullshit is that the visuals are coming :doc:

I honestly think the visuals for this is a big Netflix project that she is carefully choosing to drop at the exact right moment.

Obviously the right moment would have been during its release time but it could give the album longevity as well

Edited by Love Again

It's clearer and clearer now that visuals may be close by. But if they wind up doing nothing for the album, it'll just be egg in their faces.

Shade lol, but I understand ya.

At the same time, while this delay is unprecedented for her, the following is why I still think all-at-once will continue to be her wave moving forward:

Self Titled: All at Once

Lemonade: Formation ahead of everything, but was so standalone that it didn't feature in the otherwise...all at once film

BIK: Late, but again...all at once. She revealed that the whole project evolved from having the video for Already in the can. She could (and perhaps should have released it before the film given how long we had to wait), but seems sis is adamant about us taking ish in whole.

I agree that she doesn't need to be chained to her ways of the past and could well benefit from at least giving us a music video edit for Cuff It, but looking at the consistency of her moves helps manage expectations about what will or won't happen.

I don't think most fans care that much about full visual albums. I've been saying since the era that I would much rather have great videos for the singles and a documentary about how the songs came together.

Having no film is not the problem with the era, the problem is that nothing is happening. She doesn't even bother communicating at all.

We had a whole month between BMS and the album and the only acknowledgement the song had from her (the artist) until a week before the release was a bio update. Same thing with CI now.

Then she drops a teaser for a song that is not a single and that doesn't look like a video at (because nothing is happening in that 1 minute, it's just her posing) with no dates, no explanation of what it is a teaser for exactly and it's been 13 weeks since then.

The problem is that everything lacks transparency, communication and it appears sloppy and disorganized.

I just hope, really hope that act II is handled better.

I think it seems likely she could put it out on Thanksgiving Day, and announce the tour the following day, on black friday.

Is it possible the film contains stuff for ACT II, and it'll also be released around the same time?  I can't imagine doing two big films like this.  We also know that she recorded the acts during covid, and I feel like a component might be a documentary, why else would SYD be in it?  Also, the group that worked on Virgo stated they can't talk much about the way the song came about.

I think there is a lot more about this project that we just have no idea about, and it'll all make sense when it's released.

I was also thinking that another way to go about it since she doesn't feel like making an era or engaging her fans would be to just create an Instagram and Twitter account for each era.

For example, if we had a Renaissance's Twitter account, that account could announce the singles, retweet celebs singing the songs, talking about the songs. Tell you a teaser of the era is on YTB, when to expect tour tickets etc.

Beyoncé's socials seem completely dedicated to IVP and pictures so social accounts dedicated to music, her side business could work.

If we get full visuals for renaissance, i don't really need visuals for act ii. maybe just one song. besides if it's country inspired, i'm not sure i'll be dying to see the visuals. it'd be great if she did some performances for act ii instead of music videos
