God I hope the Renaissance film isn’t too try-hard and doesn’t attempt to weave an unnecessary storyline into it that doesn’t work.

Just give us some care-free, fun videos to go with what is a care-free and fun album, please.

I’m just worried that she’ll make something that should be thrilling and fun into something serious and dull all in the name of artistry :deadbanana4:

Yeah i thought that maybe they kept the visuals because she changed her mind and decided to make it a film. I better not see women dressed in weird clothes standing up in this awkward pose staring at the screen. For an artist who was once said to never repeat herself, that would be extremely repetitive to do this AGAIN after Lemonade and Black is King. Renaissance definitely doesn't need a serious film, it's just NOT that kind of project.

A documentary about how the album came to be and the music videos thrown in as performances would actually be good. Anything else would be weird. She could make it a series instead of a film and each music video could be an episode but maybe that's too much.

I still like that fan theory from twitter where they had this concept of the film having similar symbolism/scenes so Stanley Kubrick's shining. It was just a fan concept but i found it cute.

Good thing Beyoncé doesn’t do “dull” :fan:

She does do "always too late" and "not a popstar" tho :rip:

I feel like they will put the Film on a paid streaming service now because they know that the ship.has sailed for the GP to be interested, hence they are going to bet on fans paying to watch it (to get back revenue). I hope it fires back big time and she loses money with it. Shes gotta learn that her approach to things is just not working in 2022 and in the future at some point.

Can we talk about how GORGEOUS she looked with minimal makeup in the Water video?

Beyoncé - WATER (feat. Pharrell and Salatiel) [Black Is King Extended Version] - YouTube

Water, the song and visual, are peak Bey for me. I was so damn obsessed. In fact I love all the Gift. Even Mood 4 eva which is the weakest song on the album is fun. Severely underrated within the hive.

Water, Otherside, FYWB and Bigger >>>>>>

Also My Power visuals are epic. I'd love that sort of set design to be incorporated into a tour or live performance.

My ranking of the visual projects:

BIK > Self-titled > Lemonade > B’Day

One of her most stunning visual ever. If not her most stunning ever. It's slightly better than FYWB for me because it does not have that weird filter.

I hope the Renaissance videos are in the same vein.

This reminded me I never actually seen the BIK visuals :skull: I don’t really feel any need to at this point. I’m excited for the new music videos/“film” though and I hope it contains some new music! :duca:

Water encapsulates everything wrong with The Gift for me.

Some potentially amazing songs which are ultimately half baked tracks and in which she barely appears.

I still get CHILLS everytime her part comes on but then it's almost finished and end up feeling underwhelmed at the end. If this was a proper 3;30 min track in which Pharell and Salatiel were only features during the bridge or maybe second verse it would be a career Top10 for me. The base is THAT good but the execution falls flat.

Same with FYWB, there no reason that song wasn't 1 min longer and turned into a career highlight :deadbanana:I can understand her trimming them for the film but the album versions should've been proper songs.

Anyway, I'm glad we at least have confirmation the visuals have not been scrapped entirely cause I was really fearing she'd pull a FWT DVD on us with them :toofunny2:

Let hope it holds!! :dancehall3:

I want Ren to have more than 20 weeks in the top 10 eventually.

I wanted that for BMS too but maybe CI will be the one.

I wish she was consistently doing around 10K on Pure though, it would help her staying close to the top 5 all weeks.

By the way, whoever did the makeup, hair and styling for Water should be her go-to stylist for everything.

Honestly I'm the opposite. A bunch of fun videos is not really a "film" its just a video collection. At which point just release the videos separately. From a personal standpoint that's less interesting to me as a film but also the GP has shown they don't really have any interest in hour long video collections. You need drama and narrative to keep anyone other than stans engaged.

Also weiving into together gives us more art from Bey. Like the prelude poetry section to Hold Up which is a career highlight.

Although I get what you're saying in terms of wanting it to be fun. I have a feeling black/POC queerness is going to be quite center to the film and I don't want it to be preachy, overbearing or just full of soundbites of queer voices. I'm happy for real issues to rear their head (Like I think BMS is going to touch on burn out etc) but it should ultimately be exciting, universally relatable and a form of escapism.

She always loses money with visuals, that’s why no one else is doing them. She just likes to do it.

My visual ranking goes:

1) Lemonade: the only visualz which are almost essential viewing to get the whole album experience and depth. There are emotions and meaning which simply aren't in the music that the film elaborates on. Although there overall less variety and bunch, the tone & cinematography is the best of her career.

Tie 2)ST: honestly there's just something very organic and punchy about a lot of the videos. They don't have the budget of The Gift but they're more memorable imo.

Tie 2)The Gift: visually the most striking concepts. Individually they show growth over both Lem & ST, in terms of scope.

I actually think the length is perfect. Which prompt me also to expect that it would be a single. I just don't understand the point of it being so short, perfect for streaming, the catchiest and not lead The Gift album with it and release the drag that is M4E instead.

What I find superfluous in length completely is the collaboration with Kendrick.

After hearing the Film version, I can't go back (excluding the outro). But yeah the OG is still perfect for streaming.... I played it to a younger German friend who doesn't use Bey, he was like "This song is actually cool". Imagine having FYB and force feeding the public Mood 4 Ever... :gaycat6:

Right, she's not doing these films because they're such huge money makers. she likes doing them and they add to her legacy and body of work.

She makes so much off the tour and other ventures she's free to do what she wants.

@*-ChriZ-*, Just want to use this moment to point out that comments like this are exactly what people mean when they say "some members" do TOO MUCH. It's never (ever) that serious. :michael:

I actually think it's the contrary.

Sure, she's definitely doing it as an artistic statement and an artistic flex. BUT...let's not forget she's making big bank now with these visual deals.

As I understand it, she's making visual albums herself (in-house) for x sum and selling it to these streamers for way more.

For instance, making the Ren visuals for $5-10 million and having Netflix cut her a $50 million check is smart business. Her costs are covered and the profit made can be reinvested into Parkwood. It's a circular (and savvy) win.

New theory: Bey cant move anymore and thats why they have to post edit so much. She just doesnt have it and is afraid of the consequences

Girl....

What does that even mean?

We saw her lately, and even then most songs in Ren don't require much choreo. She could just stand or sit for POTS, Virgo's Groove.

In my next comment I revealed I was joking lol dont take everything so seriously that appears on this forum (especially posted by me xD).

Im literally not walking through life being annoyed by whatever billionaire Bey is doing. I will however say her approach kills the fun and I stand by it.
