Because she's not MEANT for that **** :lmao: Imagine Michael having a sneakers line or a suit line. It doesn't work. She's KNOWN as a brilliant musician and entertainer, not a muse or "it girl". Dereon showed us years ago that it just won't work with her image. She needs to EMBRACE being a larger than life popstar so she can rake in the money she deserves and not need an extra brand. Her publishing and streaming revenue is too low for her being THEE artist right now. That graph from the other day had me shook.

I do and don't agree with this.

Unlike Rih, Ye, and all these other girls doing extracurricular ish, Bey has first and foremost been celebrated for her music and performance output above all else. So, it figures why that's where she's excelled and her other ventures have moved...slower.

The MJ comparison is on point, but context is key and context will explain why it's important for her to actually continue with her external ventures in hopes of something becoming huge.

Unlike the 80s, 90s. and 00s, music is no longer this premium product. The digital age made sure of that. Put simply, she doesn't stand to make as much $$$ from music. Touring is still where artists of today make the most bank, but she can't tour year on year. From a physical and audience saturation standpoint. ALL of these stars are trying to jump on this "less work, more returns" wave, so it's only smart that Bey does..especially at this mature season of her career.

My main wish is that she really puts her everything behind something. Be that Ivy Park or something else to come. Like leverage her entire marketing muscle and just go for it. Granted it's something on brand for her. IVP relaunch has been decent but it's kind of coasting atm. Her promo game feels too careful / boutique. Probably to not come across as spammy or try-hard. But my thought then becomes...what's the point if you're not going IN and being innovative along the way.

The name of the game must be establishing something that works without her at its center. Something that booms so much that it becomes self-sufficient.

Taylor winning AOTY again will be HUGE backlash, even more than when she won over Kendrick. She and Beyoncé are in the same boat of constantly being "overrated".

She gets hit with that alot on Reddit from the usual locals.

I don't see her getting another AOTY, but they're still not giving it to Beyoncé :rip:

People were saying this same exact thing for her third win and yet nothing happened. She’s definitely winning another one and sooner rather than later. She’ll probably send voters VIP tickets again

Ivy Park has been a hit...it's interesting that ppl hold Dereon (Tina's line which she sold for a profit) over her head when some of the ppl mentioned have failed lines & we just accept that the rest of the stuff is a success. she did what others have done & found the right partnership and formula.

and she did a visual album b/c she is a creative by nature. i doubt Beyonce would ever be the type of artist to abandon music just b/c she found a bag elsewhere. some people live & breathe music and having that creative outlet and Beyonce is one of those people. why do you think 3 albums & a visual album exist for this era? context is important...ya'll comparing her to some who don't have talent, were never invested, & music itself was a means to an end.

Agreed

Taylor making history as a 4th AOTY winner is definitely not out of the realm of possibility. she is still relatively young & unless she completely falls off hard musically or there's scandal that she paid for them...she is primed to make it happen again in this lifetime. probably a few more AOTYs in the future too tbh. if Grammy's cared about backlash...she wouldn't even be at 3 AOTYs right now.

I think it's time we have a proper discourse about how Beyonce' the artist TECHNICALLY debuted as an album act in 2003 but her career started 7 years prior so her 25 year long musical career is STILL ACTIVE.

Whitney Houston- 1985-2010 is 25 years. That year her album I Look To You debuted #1 but her singles didn't really smash. World tour was a commerical and critical DISASTER.

Mariah - 1990-2015 is 25 years. That year she had To Infiniti, another mediocre greatest hits album. No charting singles.

Janet- 1982-2007/8. Janet had Discipline and Feedback which crossed over and made decent impact but did not have the success or acclaim as her previous projects. Tour cancelled, album underperformed.

Madonna- 1982-2007/2008. Hard Candy smashed and she had a massive global tour and an amazing reputation at the time. 4 Minutes and Give It 2 Me smashed.

Beyonce'-1997-2022. Renaissance era smashes across the globe. Scores first solo #1 single in a decade, and multiple global hit singles without promotion. Highest acclaimed album of her career. Reputation at it's ABSOLUTE highest and most respected.

This is insane if you guys really break it down. Renaissance could push Bey into another 10 years of charting relevancy just based off how everyone is tripping over Alien an Cuff It. She's really the greatest female artist of all time. Like in real time.

!!! People aren’t getting it because it’s happening now. The way she is revered is insane. Like there’s a reason after beychella the public kinda crowned beyoncé as the GOAT :jonny5: chart Stans took EIL and the gift and wrote her off but the public was simply waiting for another BEYONCÉ solo era and we’re seeing how beyloved she really is. She’s really ascended to a status above every female artist before her. We talk **** about how she handles her eras but she’s looking at the big picture in a way I don’t think any of us are

I agree. but I think we should wait to hear the music before saying Taylor could win AOTY in 2024. I don't think she'll have much of a chance if its just another Jack Antonoff-led folklore 3.0 type album. she gets rewarded when she evolves.

Taylor snatched AOTY in pivotal turns in her career:

- Fearless (her major breakthrough, Top 5 hits, VMAs KanyeGate)

- Speak Now (self-written country-pop album, not nominated)

- RED (dipping toes in pop, nominated for AOTY)

- 1989 (her official switch to pop, upgrade to stadium tour status)

- reputation (**** album, "dark pop," not nominated)

- Lover (mediocre pop album, not nominated)

- folklore (major switch in sound, surprise release)

- evermore (folklore leftovers, barely nominated for AOTY when Grammys decided to up the # of noms from 8 to 10)

I just feel she hasn't tapped into what makes HER a superstar. Kanye is SYNONYMOUS with FASHION hence his clothing success. Rihanna is SYNONYMOUS for her exotic looks and sexiness so she sells lingerie and makeup. Beyonce is SYNONYMOUS for her performing and artistic abilities and her UNDENIABLE BEAUTY, so why not produce live shows for other artists like Live Nation does? A touring logistics company? Why not create a Parkwood masterclass on branding, performance and cultural impact and turn it into a lucrative workshop brand? Or if we wanna get surface level she's also known for her what: WEAVE. Where is her signature wig/lace front/weave collection? Can you imagine "Lemonade Braid Type" bundles, etc for women designed by Bey and the Queen Of Hair herself Kim Kimble? Maybe I'm reaching but the athleisure thing screams Serena Williams more so than Beyonce, The Beautiful Queen Of Pop Music.

When she wins AOTY this year and the world explodes :jonny5:

The Grammy conversation is so boring to me.

Renaissance isn’t winning AOTY. It should, but it’s not. Let that go now.

The way the tour is about to demolish hdjdjdjfj I have so many ideas for how the songs could be brought to life I can’t wait to see what she does. Madonnas records are NOT safe if she goes all in on the dates bc I’m seeing viral memes about tryna get tickets already

Idk why people are so set on the Grammys snubbing Bey this time around. Im expecting them to hand it over to her this time around tbh. & It still won’t mean much when they do since they haven’t been respectable in over a decade and desperate for ratings. They can only capitalize on snubbing her so much. They’re more desperate than ever and a win on her end + a Ren performance of the sort is all they have left to garnish ratings. Snubbing her 3x in a row in an era where star power among mainstream artists is at an all time low won’t be a good look. I can easily see them capitalizing on her legacy.

She's not getting it, but I would like to see the nominees list when it comes out.

Can we at LEAST make predictions on the opening song for the tour? :duca:

Everything in my SOUL says she's gonna open the show with I'm That Girl with her coming down the ceiling in the disco horse platform with a sick ass outfit.  No dancers, lots of smoke, crazy lights and visuals just elegance and BOSS ***** ENERGY. Go all the way thru the first three tracks then hit us with Find Your Way Back. Followed by a brief interlude..then start section two with Energy..... :duca:

She's CLEARLY getting it. Harvey is going to suck every inch of her dick this year. Please don't forget how TERRIBLE they felt so they showered her in 2021 as if she actually released.

She's coming for POP VOCAL ALBUM (instead of urban contemporary), Record Of The Year (Break My Soul) Solo Pop Performance (Break My Soul), Traditional R&B Performance (Isley Brothers), Best R&B Performance (Cuff It), Best R&B Song (Cuff It). Best Engineered Album, Producer Of The Year (Beyonce'), Album Of The Year.

6/9 she's definitely snatching. Pop solo, Record Of The Year, AOTY and the three r&b noms breaking the all time record for most overall Grammy wins :clap3:

I see the exact same. She’s winning 4-6 Grammys for the night. They’re going to act real woke on top of it after all the backlash they’ve received in previous years.

She’s gonna win something but AOTY …

that ship has sailed.

I think both sides of the Grammy extremes are wrong. This is the one music award show where the producers don't dictate who takes home the awards. Whatever backlash they may or may not receive isn't really going to be a concern—over 12,000 voters choose the winner for AOTY.

2021 was a good year for Beyoncé, but she lost 3 of the 4 nominations she had for "BLACK PARADE." it was really "Savage Remix" that won the evening, and a music video win for "BROWN SKIN GIRL." BLACK IS KING, however, lost to Linda Ronstadt's "The Sound of My Voice." Beyoncé is also the most-decorated artist, so they don't feel as much pressure to honor her artistry with an AOTY trophy.

However, I do think she has a good shot. RENAISSANCE is her widest-reaching album in a while, and BREAK MY SOUL her biggest hit in a decade.

I definitely see nominations for AOTY, ROTY, SOTY secured. Genre awards are unclear but Pop, R&B and Dance are the ones we might see RENAISSANCE songs pop up. Best case scenario could be something like:

AOTY - RENAISSANCE

Genre Album (one of Pop/R&B/Dance?) - RENAISSANCE

ROTY - "BREAK MY SOUL"

SOTY - "BREAK MY SOUL"

Best Pop Solo Performance - "ALIEN SUPERSTAR"

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance - "MOVE" ft. Grace Jones & Tems

Best Dance/Electronic Recording - "BREAK MY SOUL"

Best R&B Performance - "CUFF IT"

Best Traditional R&B Performance - "PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA"

Best R&B Song - "CUFF IT"

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical - one of the "BREAK MY SOUL" remixes

Best Song Written for Visual Media - "Be Alive"

Social Change - whatever she submits

that's 13 nominations.

Alien Superstar would be a perfect tour opener. When the show is about to start, all the lights go out. Sirens start ringing (she incorporate the sirens from Ring The Alarm for this). Then you hear "Pleeeeease do not be alarmed. Remain calm. Do not attempt to leave the dancefloor...". The word "UNIQUE" flashes up on all the screens around you.

Preach it!

I'm not sure I'm "as" certain as you are, but you caught on to something a lot of dejected stans here don't: the Grammys are amidst a major change.

Like, I'm very invested in a lot of the backend ish and happenings and I remember reading an article about how the main new producer for the show (Ben Winston) was doing a lot of artist specific outreach to get them back on the broadcast. He was the one who confirmed there was advanced talks with Bey for the Savage performance. It's not at all coincidental that, while she didn't perform, it was the year they OVER nominated Black Parade and Bey actually played ball by showing up.

Stans are jaded for the right reasons, but it grinds my gears when objective fact is overlooked just to default to moaning.

The Grammys is a broadcast almost more than an award ceremony. And they will want ratings. Bey = ratings. There's a ready-prepped back story for a big win.

Nothing is a given, but auto-dismissing is odd to me.

Edited by Cbreezy

Might be getting too ahead of myself but I could actually see her getting three #1s with this album. Call me delusional but I still think she knows what she's doing. A little sus that Cuff It is starting to really take off right as the season changes and it turns to fall when she's so obsessed with her horoscope crystal ****? For all we know her and her team are behind the Cuff It challenge in someway (isn't that what Lil Nas X did with OTR to make it go viral?).

And this is why they are going to nominate her against Adele again. That “rivalry” is what they are banking on for ratings and it will work. Somehow Adele will still be the underdog since everyone will expect Bey to finally win. That gives Adele another advantage and when she wins, it will look like a triumph to all those white and old voters.

My only annoyance is Bey is going to let them play her and she will give them a performance. It’s weird how she seems to value a show that doesn’t respect her more than the shows that always give her her flowers. I guess you only want what you can’t have :rip:
