i think making sure the public knew about this record was major to her.

 

and whether y'all want to believe it or not, the world stopped yet again when she dropped the album, even with no visuals. that is about as far as it gets with "successful" for her. and the lead up to the record was just that.

 

now that it's out into the world and has performed well, i think she is back to focusing on the artistic aspects of the era, and the success is taking the back seat again. church girl comes right after BMS in the album sequence, so her making that single #2 is definitely an artistic choice and not a strategic one.

 

i don't think there's a method to her madness and i think that is her point. she wants to be an enigma, just like prince or sade, where we can't predict her moves.

Cuff It> Energy>Break My Soul is a better transition than Break My Soul to Church Girl. Hell the latter doesn’t have a transition at all.

 

You could even add Alien Superstar to the mix. That’s a 1-2-3-4 punch and are the three songs that should’ve been a single.

Church Girl is the only track that sticks out.

 

The rest of the album pretty much flows together.

Facts. Prob why I can see both sides of the frustration. If she does more singles, I can see her pushing another.

I'm just hoping that these decisions are game-theory-tiered-strategic and that everything will come together and make so crystal clear sense that we'd regret her NOT opting the routes she is taking right now.. Just look what happened with BMS; I think Bey knows what she's doing. Besides, Taylor is releasing on October, so it'd probably be prudent for Alien & Cuff It to be released after October so that their potentials do NOT get overshadowed. My theory is that the whole theme of this era is to milk/hack longevity as much as possible. Shading the GP with "coming for my technique" is NOT adequate.. Just shove the freaking irrefutable substantiations down people's throats. It's NOT challenging. People out here are willing to do this for FREE!!!! Invest in cheap/free yet supremely high marketing tactics that blow the costly/expensive ones out the park lol

Yup. If I wanted to be a hater, that one transition is my *ONLY* criticism of Renaissance. There is probably a Beyoncé song out there in her vault that begins in silence and ends with a chopped-n-screwed gospel record to fit between BMS & Church Girl like a glove. It's the only time I fall off the "cohesion train" with this project.

 

Those two records needed an Interlude like "Energy" in between. Maybe a Whitney Houston interview about being stuck between the church + secular music set to a stripped-back instrumental of "Church Girl"?

My only issue so far has been that week where Parkwood/Columbia were shutting down those Twitter fancams of Sailor Moon etc. set to "Alien Superstar" that were consistently getting 300K+ likes and were filled of people asking what the song was in the comments. A missed opportunity for virality, and potentially a new peak for AS.

ST and Lemonade and even 4 have shown u that Team has absolutely no clue on how to push singles. Every era was just tragic.

All eras literally died after the lead single release because they failed to make smart decisions. Sending Pretty Hurts to Urban when Partition was BEGGING to become a single? Completely ignoring Hold Ups momentum globally? Not pushing Daddy Lessons in the US? Sending Church Girl to radio and pushing it when Cuff It and AS exist?

Like cmon now, there is nothing to understand. They just don't know what they are doing and are COMPLETELY out of it. Serving parallel universe. Her team is dumb and so is she. And trust me, in this case its not an insult but a mere Observation on my part. 

 

Maybe after all its good ahe doesnt give interviews. I start to understand why
