It definitely deserves a 7 at least and, although they are making some points in the review, this in particular is garbage.

Ware does not express a thought that could be construed as unseemly, kinky, or perverse, which is to say in any way relatable to a wider audience.

Does she have to be perverse to relate to the public? She's always been reserved and understated, almost frigid, in her lyrics and that's part of her charm. No one goes into a Jessie Ware album expecting lyrics about her cooch being loose nor is it mandatory to write like that in order to make a disco inspired album.

I think this review kind of boils down to painting her like a suburban mom that's too boring to make any kind of dance music. And to echo @HonourableVomit, "this almost exclusively happens with female pop artists".

it's definitely a downgrade form her previous 2 albums and p4k are probably 'punishing' her but yeah 6.3 is too low. 7.3 sounds like a better overall score

When your opening quote for a review is "Charli said the dancefloor is dead and she may have a point after listening to this" referring to an album that is primarily NON dance pop, you retract yourself.

They should not be taken seriously, some of the users in the forum have better takes than this.

Deserved. The album felt incredibly redundant and wasn't refreshing at all. It already aged poorly for me and it's only been out for a few days.

I like the album but I agree with some of their criticism. It definitely feels like it's lacking the spark of WYP (and TFG to a lesser extent).

This review reads like some gay had to hand in a Jessie Ware review for their arts class and wrote it in 5 minutes before it needed to be handed in, while just returning from a night out, being completely wasted.

WYP is a hazy and rather industrial-sounding take on disco

TFG is completely different with its bombastic incorporation of brass instrumentation and sparse nods to R&B (which makes it my personal favorite of the trilogy)

Superbloom is a rustling, lush listen where her vocals, the flutes and strings take center stage

I really wish ATRL didn't hold Pitchfork & Fontano's reviews as the absolute gospel truth.

Maybe she should released a 30 minutes long silence track next time.

What gets me is the fact that I don't see people praising her vocal performance, people putting her on some type of weird place like "disco/dance" when she said the direction of this album would be soul music.

Of course the whole thing started out with the wrong foot (horrible single choices) but not allowing the whole body of work grow on you because of that or because what charli said, it's just so… dumb and amateur.

Their agenda is weird and very "pick me".
