This is such a breezy listen, it does not bother me at all to go through the entirety of it Day standouts: Versailles, Good Fine Alright, Just A Little Walk on the Moon Night standouts: Never Let A Good Thing Die, Amalfi Coast, Near or Far

The production and the instrumentation on Redlights are wonderful

The album really picks up from the bad one on, it's one little gem after another. BUT as a whole it's kind of a nondescript album, there's an ongoing vibe of dark electropop flourishes, but it all feels a bit minor in the scope of her discography. Not sure what she was going for exactly like, for example, if i could i would is the blandest song she's ever made? And it's right at the start??? There are some odd choices here. But some of y'all are dramatic, it's still a good album.

Good album, but Something Beautiful remains her opus. Different Religion and REDLIGHTS are fantastic though, the album should have followed those sounds more.

Such a mixed bag of an album. She really fooled me with the gorgeous artwork and Black Prada Dress The main problem for me is that many of these tracks just don't have that Ellie DNA in the songwriting that usually infuses her work. Even in less peculiar albums like Higher Than Heaven, an Ellie Goulding melody is always present and recognizable. Here, not so much. Always Think of You and Misremember You should be slam-dunks for her since the acoustic sound is a well-known part of her identity, but they both sound like different degrees of Taylor Swift, melodically. The former especially really reminds me of Wildest Dreams They are not bad songs, not at all, but so far from Ellie. But the latter's lyrics are really affecting at least. For Your Entertainment flows well, but it does sound like a Damiano David song nnn so weird! Loser is straight up trash, so disappointing. She should be above this type of TikTokified fake R&B sound. What's actually good: the singles, Jealousy, Nobody Dances and, above all, I Know Too Much! I know she's capable of interesting acoustic leaning songs that have affecting melodies and captivating fingerpicking. I recognize Ellie in these songs, and at the same time they feel like a progression/reiteration of various types of sounds she has explored before. Destiny remains superior to all of these songs though, it goes without saying

Masterpiece. Lost Boys is so misleading

In the last few years, I'd probably say Sour by Olivia, Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay, U by underscores and Revengeseekerz by Jane Remover. Oh and Motomami. Unlistenable to me for different reasons. To a lesser extent, I found these to be super underwhelming and basic despite the acclaim they've gotten: you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, the Chappell album and The Record by boygenius.

The first time I heard it I instantly thought of Teenage Dream and We R Who We R. It took me back in time to that feeling of listening to an electropop song in the summer of 2010. It sounds like that specific year in the best possible way, so I'm not surprised by them saying this.
