In a universe where Single Ladies' dance didn't take off, it might be that.

I remember how much criticism it got at the time for being so minimal, fans and haters alike were going off on it. And then in a matter of weeks it became one of the biggest cultural phenomenons of the year, and was artistically ahead of its time with plenty of music videos trying to mimic it in the year following.

Didn't this premier on So You Think You Can Dance back in the day? I remember it got through maybe the second chorus and then there was some transition back to ads but I thought something interesting was finally happening for 2 seconds .

Thats very nice, but the No Angel mv is highkey does no service to the song and is imo, a letdown to one of Bey's best tracks.
