Mariah Carey is a famous vocalist, known for her string of hits like All I want for Christmas is you. There's no debating that she has one of the most amazing studio voice in the industry, but she seems to be lacking in the performance department. Why is Mariah not known for performing live ? I know she doesn't dance or move and all, but Adele, who's not a person that moves that much has iconic standing/piano performance.

Define iconic. You want her belting while doing cartwheels or what 😭

Her Emotions performance at the VMAs is quite iconic and often posted. Hero at the Tokyo Dome too.

I liked her Without you performance from the 90s and then she had this I stay in love (maybe Billboard) performance that I really enjoyed

Adele does not have an iconic performance in that way. Nobody's gonna pinpoint a specific individual Adele performance unless they stan or it was the first/only performance of hers that they saw

Like Adele and many other vocal-focused artists (and basically 99% of artists outside of female pop), Mariah just isn't a theatrical performer. Her work doesn't really lend itself to high-concept shows with stunts and stuff.

Most iconic performances involve some type of stunt. Mariah doesn't really do that.

I don't like Adele and even I can admit she has some iconic performances that was nominated/won a Grammy. On the other hand Mariah whole career is a mystery to me.

She has that MTV unplugged performance of Emotions with the whistle note that still makes rounds on social media but that's all I can think of, minus the iconic mess of the New Years eve performance.
