Blackout was just a rehash of what Danja did with Danity Kane, Nelly Furtado, and Justin Timberlake. People have also said it started the dubstep (short lived) trend, but the album had no legit dubstep production on it. The album was nothing new and that's 1 of the many reasons it got 0 Grammy nominations imo.

No Legend X is more innovative, ahead of her time etc. and it's the reason Maroon 5 chose Legend X over Britney to sing 3 lines on Moves Like Jagger.

i don't think it was innovative but it was definitely the peak of the sound of that time. it's a very well crafted, well produced album, and the context (unfortunately), with britney being able to deliver such an amazing album while going through the most difficult moment in her life, only made it more iconic.

Danity Kane's album with Blackout'd songs came out in 2008 tho

I wouldn't say innovative because it's a continuation of loose and fsls. But it is a DAMN good album.

It's a great album but I don't think it was innovative - it was borrowing things from Loose, FutureSex/LoveSounds and made it better

Loose's production sounds NOTHING like Blackout this narrative legit has to stop; Blackout is innovative for its usage of melodine, vocoder, robopop, trap beats, etc. Loose has distinct 2000s instrumental funk to it

Loose has an RnB flair to it that's nowhere to be found in Blackout. Dare I say they're entirely different genres if not for the fact that they're both considered electronic pop music.

innovative producers aren't people who work with the mainstream constantly also I feel like he got blacklisted for shading Timbaland and afterwards the Britney conservatorship couldn't have helped... He bet all his money on Britney's involvement basically I feel

I think Blackout, along with other albums (off the top of my head: Taylor's albums), is very inspired by other things that were happening in pop music at that time, but it stands out so much because of the lore surrounding it & the "vibe" that she delivered. It was unapologetically messy, fun, sexy, etc. after a long period of the press making her life hell. It's kinda the epitome of late-2000s 'trashy' celebrity culture, and that's why it's such a key reference for hyperpop/electroclash acts now
