It would also be odd for her to release two concert films so closely together. Assuming Requiem comes first and happens somewhat soon.

If Gaga release does end up releasing LG8 in the next 24 months (which I know seems like a pipe dream given her track record, but hey, she's been talking a lot about making music and feeling inspired), then I think it'd be cool to use the Mayhem Ball tour as a launchpad for LG8, sort of like what she did with TCB film and Mayhem.

Or, if Requiem's vibe/sound is closer to LG8, I could see them rushing the Mayhem Ball special to get it out sooner, then releasing Requiem as a bridge to what's next later this year.

Imo that's always made more sense. Requiem is literally the closure of the era, so reopening it later with the MBT special would be kind of weird. It's fine either way, no one will really care, but if we want to be nitpicky, you don't hold a funeral for your album and then drop the concert film after it

Released on HBO sounds like it'll be a non-event lowkey

Hoping this one opens above the Chromatica Ball special's legendary 15 views debut

Concert films don't make big splashes so I don't really care what streaming platform shows eventually shows the Mayhem Ball film tbh. Even Bey's Renny film in theaters was kinda a non-event for its era.

Now a live album... that's what I really want from the filming of this tour.

OT: I really want Mayhem Ball Tour live album. 🥹🥹🥹🥹

I'm actually surprised HBO was interested because the Chroma Ball special felt lowkey uneventful (mostly due to Ga's fantastic timing, but still).

I think theatrical or streaming releases of concert films should come as the tour is happening and ideally as the dates have sold out. Seeing the concert in theaters should feel like an alternative for those who couldn't buy tickets for seeing the artist live. You drive the hype at its peak moment.

Take notes for next era, Michael. Specially if you're going to book arenas again.

Which era do you think is bigger, "A Star Is Born" or "Mayhem"?

I think that's an interesting question. I don't know if anyone's asked it before. "

Mayhem" has "Die With A Smile," which is probably a bigger hit than any single from "A Star Is Born," yes, even "Shallow."

But ASIB has been more consistent in terms of frequent hits; "Always Remember Us This Way" was a much bigger hit than "Abracababra," and "I'll Never Love Again" was more successful than "Disease" and "The Dead Dance" combined.

ASIB had a big box office movie, while Mayhem had a big tour that isn't finished yet, so we haven't seen its full potential. ASIB has also had bigger album on IFPI and Billboard 200 year-end chart.

I believe Mayhem was more acclaimed than ASIB overall.

Now please!

ASIB was her biggest era after TFM. In terms of success,accolades,awards,acclaim.... You had to be there!

DWAS is bigger than Shallow

Abra's first year is bigger than ARUTW's but the latter was only released as a single in two European countries and has had outstanding longevity. It's bigger than Abra as of now, but Abra is showing pretty good longevity itself. We shall see.

Mayhem will hit 10 million CSPC faster than ASIB did, but the latter still pulls good recurrents and Mayhem would need to maintain a gap of at least 3,600 daily units to pull ahead of ASIB by the end of the decade.

All this to say that I think ASIB will remain the bigger project in the US (that #3 placement on the 2019 BB200 YE chart speaks for itself) and internationally it could go either way. Mayhem also stands to be boosted more from future Gaga pop projects than ASIB which may help it pull ahead. But having two projects after Gaga's career passed the decade mark hitting 10 million+ units WW and having this much acclaim and success is beyond impressive.

Yes, "ASIB" was much bigger as an album.

I'm pretty sure "Abracadabra" won't end up bigger than "Always Remember Us This Way". They're already pulling the same amount of daily streams and there's a 1B+ gap on Spotify.

And also, the views, ARUTW was a smash on YouTube. 700M+ from the official MV, 300M+ from the audio, and that's without the UGC views. jonny

ASIB and Mayhem are pretty on par with each when you fully account their bigger/weaker aspects respectively. For now ASIB is "bigger" on paper but Mayhem will retroactively be seen as similar a huge era for her career.

Gaga having her ultimate peak with TF/FM and an additional three smash eras with BTW, ASIB, and Mayhem, whew mama that's 5 smash albums right there.

If you were fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to witness it in real time, there's no way you consider Joanne as an era to be more difficult to endure than ARTPOP. The music was worse and the era boring during Joanne? Maybe. But the actual events and how it affected both the fans, the artist and the GP... ARTPOP has no competition. It felt like waking up to a new car crash everyday.

Born This Way is about to cross 17 million units globally and that's on smashing in two separate decades

DWAS

Let's be real LG8 is not coming this year. Yes, maybe we'll get the lead in the fall like Disease, but I don't see an album coming till early 2028. And since the Requiem show was Apple Music exclusive, that will likely be released around the 1 year anniversary of Mayhem in March.

The Mayhem Ball film will take months to edit. Maybe they'll release it during Halloween season for one final push of the era, right before LG8 era starts.
